"Don't waste energy."

"Don't tell me what to do."

Ivah didn't talk or look at the Berkian Chief for a week after that. Funnily enough the Acerbian Heir spends that time coddling his Dragon.

They clicks their tongue and let out sounds akin to purring as they elicit Toothless's own purring.

Toothless, ever the traitor soaks up the attention, the extra fish and the extra grooming.

This does not bother Hiccup. He has long since gotten used to being iced out of Ivah's conversations. In fact the last time it had been Ivah who had broken the silence between them by deciding to defend Astrid.

So no, he is not bothered by the silence, nor is he bothered by Ivah constantly ignoring him.

He believes he'll even go a step further and have dinner with the rest of the Riders every night during the week. He actually missed these dinners.... That's what he was telling himself as he forced himself to pay attention to the Twins jabber, Fishleg's informative speeches and Astrid and Snotlout's bickering.

He comes to his bunk each night to find an dark hut filled with the sounds of a sleeping Hersir and sleeping Night Fury.

This does not bother him.

Until it does.

"Yeah , well during training today Ivah didn't even use their legs against you and you still lost." Ruffnut shoves her brother.

"Well I thought we were just using our heads so they had the advantage anyways." Tuffnut grumbles.

"Training today?" Hiccup inquires the twin's who turn to him in surprise that he was actually engaging in their conversation and not just fondly shaking his head at them. "Ivah trained you two today?"

Fishlegs cleared his throat , "They've been teaching us this entire week. Each of us gets an hour aside from Astrid. All they ask of Astrid is to spar."

This bothers him.

"Like she could have anything to teach me." Astrid scoffs, her distaste for the Acerbian clear on her tongue. "I just enjoy getting to hand them their butt."

Snotlout's lips pressed together, the way they did when he wanted to speak but knew his comment wouldn't suit the current atmosphere or when he knew a comment would genuinely upset someone.

"Why are you asking anyway?" Astrid locked her blue eyes into Hiccup's strategizing as she looked at her Chief. "You don't keep track of your prisoner like you thought you did?"

This bothers him.

Hiccup opens his mouth , ready to argue but stops at the last second. He closes his mouth and just watches Astrid's expression change. Confusion that he hadn't accepted the bait to argue and then suspicion to see what he was going to bring up instead.
