Once a far enough distance from the huts of the Dragon Riders, Ivah does something that Belal has never seen them do in seven years.

Ivah grabs Belal and pulls Belal into a hug. He doesn't argue against it , pulling them in close as well. Their body thinner and hair much shorter than he last saw them and bandages wrapped around a leg. "You smell." He rolls his eyes when Ivah pulls away. "Are showers not an option when being held a prisoner of the Berkian Chief?" He muses.

He knew they wouldn't take kindly to blatant concern but Ivah would understand what he meant in the sarcastic undertone.

He stepped back revealing to Ivah that hidden in the bushes he had their armor and weaponry ready. Ivah didn't answer his question, much like he had already expected, instead faring to pull on the extra protection and slide each dagger into proper position.

As Ivah changed,  he glanced away, but not before noting the new bruising on their body , nor the bandages around her leg.

"I heard the other Riders left so am I correct in assuming you've brought the whole fucking battalion against my orders?"

Belal shook his head. "Only a group of trusted volunteers. This way you can't completely claim-"

"Where are my men?" Ivah interrupts in a low hiss. "Have you even scoped out the terrain before hand? What was the plan you used?! You've put them in danger over a rescue mission for one measly life!" They scolded shoving him back.

Belal's features darkened. "And what makes this rescue mission any different from any other rescue missions you've led for one measly life?"

Ivah's lip curled but they didn't say anything. At that moment they didn't have to. Belal knew what the difference was between their life and any others.

Ivah gave the other lives worth.

Finally as they grabbed the sword they turned to Belal. "We go help our men." Ivah commanded turning to the sound of another explosion.

Belal grabbed them  stopping their pursuit entirely and when Ivah turned ,he noticed the new bruising on their chin. From who he didn't know but would be willing to bet one of their captors.

"Belal! Suggesting against my command?!" Ivah snarled at him at what he knew they viewed as insubordination.

"I command that my Hersir survives this battle." He hissed and watched as Ivah's expression softened. They stayed silent and Belal looked at the Heir and Next in Line to Be Chief of Acerbi. Their eyes were far away and as though finally making a decision Ivah grabbed his hand then the back of Belal's neck and pressed their foreheads together, hands entwined.
