Varian slumped back against the wall. He pulled a string out of his pocket since his hair had fallen out from the rough treatment of being tossed in a cell. He used it to tie his hair back up to keep it out of his way like he had been doing when it started getting longer. Cassandra wanted him to cut it, but Rapunzel let him grow it out.
His attention was quickly diverted by Lance speaking.
"Your nose, it looks like a strawberry. You know, speaking of strawberries, I get the 'berry' part, that part makes perfect sense, but what? Where does the 'straw' come in? They should call it 'noseberry', 'cause it looks like your nose. I'm gonna eat your nose."
Varian set a hand on Lance's head to keep him from biting the nose. "You're burning up. I need to get you that antidote..."
The sound of footsteps made Varian flinch. He changed positions, ready to jump anyone if needed. He saw that it was Weasel and Eugene, so he stood up. Anthony locked him in and Eugene let out a sigh.
"How's Lance doing?" He asked.
Varian looked at Lance worriedly. "He's been better."
Eugene sat next to Lance and put his vest under his head as a makeshift pillow. "Lance, buddy, just hang on, alright? I'm gonna getcha that antidote, I promise whatever it takes." He looked at Varian. "What about you?"
"Me? I've been worse." Varian shrugged, leaning against the wall. "They won't do much harm to me as long as the Baron says."
The sound of heels bounced off the walls. They looked at the cell door where Stalyan leaned against the bars. "So, Rider, you were trying to tell me something earlier? What did you mean?"
"That it was never real. What we had. I had to get on the Baron's good side, it was the only way to save him."
"The kid? Oh, Eugene, I thought you were past that."
"No, I never was. Look, your father promised great riches and I thought that it could save him. But the moment I realized that the Baron wasn't going to help him, Lance and I left to find the cure, but we were too late. After that, there was no point in pretending."
"So you played me from the start?"
"Yeah, I'm sorry."
"No, you're not. Rider never was."
"You're right. Rider wasn't, but Eugene is," he said.
She was silent for a moment. "I'll see you at the altar,'' she muttered before walking off.
"Stalyan-"
"Save it, Rider." She stormed off.
Eugene sighed and slumped back against the wall.
"Who were you talking about?" Varian asked. "The kid?"
"An old friend of Lance and mine. Maybe a story for a better time."
Varian nodded. He moved to inspect the lock. "Do you think you can pick it?"
"Not without my pick. I left it in the caravan," Eugene admitted.
"Then I'll figure something else out."

Rapunzel stood in the the street, not knowing what to do. Her brain shocked by the news that her boyfriend was suddenly engaged with another woman.
Her, Andrew, and Cass split up to look around the town for any news. But now that she found it, she wasn't sure what to do.
"What if that was the last time we ever talked? Why didn't I say yes?" She whispered to Pascal.
Rapunzel: When I let him walk away
What if I had spoke instead?
Why did I go on concealing
The confusion I was feeling? She looked into the dirty glass to a shop window, memories of Eugene's first proposal to her playing in her head. And the memory of them sitting in a boat together eating cupcakes for a date. She turned her head away.
Now I'll never get to say
All the things I should have said
Now there's no more love, just echos of
A life we should have ledShe walked in the street, watching the people go about their lives.
If I could take that moment back
If he were here beside me still
I'd let him see inside my heart
Now he never willEugene: Maybe if I gave her time
Maybe if I didn't go
Maybe things somehow would change
But now I guess we'll never knowRapunzel: If I could take that moment back
Eugene: If I could turn back time, I wouldBoth: If we could make a brand new start
How I wish we couldRapunzel: Wish I could take it back
But now it's gone for goodEugene: Wish I had that moment back...
"Raps!"
Rapunzel tuned towards the voice. "Cass!"
"Rapunzel? What's wrong? Are you hurt?" Cassandra ran over, grabbing her shoulders.
"No... No I'm ok," Rapunzel said, using her sleeve to wipe away a stray tear. "I found Eugene... But..."
"But what?"
"He's getting married to the Baron's daughter? I don't know what's going on-"
"Raps, take a deep breath. Just think about it. Would Eugene do this to you? Even I know that it's not like Eugene and can see how much he loves you. They must be forcing him to do it for some reason that can all be explained later. Right?"
Rapunzel nodded. "You're right. I don't know what came over me..."
"You were probably in shock. But now that we have lead, we'll find them and save them from whatever plot those people have planned for them."
"Then let's find Andrew. Is there someone maybe we could find that will help us? Even with a price?" Rapunzel suggested.
Cassandra rubbed her chin. "Well, there was the girl at that one stand that might cooperate with a price," she admitted.
"Then what are we waiting for? Lets go ask! We need to save Varian, Lance and my boyfriend!"
"Now there's the Rapunzel I know," Cassandra said, following after her.
