Jenny's POV
"Good game, life." I chuckled. "Good game."
"What?" Masky perked up. "Ohh, I was rambling again, wasn't I?" "Mhm..." He folded his arms over his chest and leaned back in his chair. "Well what now.." I glanced at a rat as it scrambled by. I grabbed my mask and fastened it on my face, activating it.
"You never told me you had freckles on your arms." He chuckled lightly. "Oh shut up!" I squeaked, folding my arms over my chest. "And I never knew your eyes where blue." He laughed. "I said shut up." I growled, hitting him with my boot and slipping it back on.
"These kind of things must be normal for teens." He went on. "Back in the days, before war, you wouldn't even so much as touch each other until you where eighteen."
"I'm going to shove a cactus down your throat if you don't stop." I sat down and brought my knees to my chest. "Maybe you can suck on something besides your-" "Alright, I'll stop!" He yelled frantically, laughing. "Thank you." I smiled lightly. "Now that we have that covered-" "Like I covered you?" "I said shut up." I scowled. "You said you'd stop."
"If this is going to work out, you need to learn right now that I lie. A lot." He smiled innocently. I gave him a cold stare and tilted my head out of the way, splitting it, all signs of aggression gone. "Work out." I echoed.
"Work out." He confirmed. "So you lie a lot then?" I cocked my head. "Yes." He confirmed again. "Anything more that I should know about you?" I tapped my chin. "..Yes." He slowly nodded. "Alright. I got open ears." I said, sitting down, and crossing my legs.

Hazel's POV
Was it normal? Absolutely. Death was common now a-days. I gotta tell you, I'm scared. I've been scared since this whole mess started. I got by with the help of my friends. Cue tacky music..
I can honestly say that I thought I was going to be the first to die. I've made it this far. So to hell with it. I trembled at Axe's touch on my forearm. "Hazel." His voiced snapped me at mid thought. I shifted slightly, glancing at him. "Huh?" I twisted sideways. "You where staring at the wall for five minutes.. What's on your mind?" Of course I wanted to tell him. I trusted him. "This whole shit." My words didn't fit, and it was pushed out the wrong way.
"Don't talk with lies in your mouth," He frowned slightly. I rubbed my nose and brought my knees to my chest, staring down at the gates of BigSpot. "It's not easy is it?" I peeped. He cocked his head. "Living." I closed my eyes for a brief moment. "We're back!" Zak shouted, pushing the wood planks back, motioning for Kath to drive in with the little girl. I never got her name..
I glanced at Axe and gave him a twitch of a smile before getting up and walking to the hole in the roof, sliding down on one of the shelves. I pushed the glass doors open, moving my hair out of my face, and walking to them.
A man jumped out of the back of the truck and shoved past me, running inside. I glanced at Kath and Zak, assuming they knew who he was. But they where already upon me. Kath lifted me up and Zak ran inside. "Know him?" I asked. "No," She turned quickly, dragging me to the truck. "He hitched a ride when we weren't looking.. In the truck."
A wave of realization and I shouted, "AXE!" I watched as he jumped down, on a tent in the courtyard. He ran and lifted me up, shoving me in the back of the van. I smacked the nape of my neck on the doorway, and yelped.
Kath hopped in shotgun and shoved the keys in the ignition. Axe jumped after me and looked at my neck. "Sorry. I can fix it as we re-locate." I slowly nodded, rolling my shoulders. I turned the opposite way as he grabbed a cold water-bottle from his backpack.
Zak ran and jumped in the car, turning the shift and stepping on the gas, shutting the door. He swerved, missing trees, as Axe held the bottle on my neck. Cold spread across my body and I shivered. He chuckled a bit, moving it away and pressing the warm palm of his hand against it instead. I relaxed, and by impulse my eyes fluttered shut. I savored this for a moment until he moved his hand away and squished my head onto his lap.
"Take a nap for once, Hazel." He told me. I rolled my eyes and grabbed his arm, hugging it until I fell asleep.
(A bit shorter then how I wanted it, but lots of stuff it coming up soon. I just want to let you guys know that I love you ok? Don't have a heart attack ok? ok.)
(I'll give you a hint on the new chapters so you're a bit aware.)
(Hint 1: Someone is going to die.)
(Hint 2: Lots of tears)
(Hint 3: I'm ending this book at chapter 24 or 25)
(Hint 4: If I get 1K reads, I'll make it 30 chapters, AND add a new character. Maybe make a book 2.)
