I opened my eyes, clenching a half eaten apple in my right hand, and my 3 foot long curved dagger in the other. I looked at my surroundings, unmoving. I can't remember what happened or where I even am... I looked up at the clouds and flinched, hearing a voice.
"Young lady, get down from my roof this instant!" The voice snarled. I sat up and stuck the apple in my mouth, feeling beside me. Oh.. I was the one on the roof. I waited for a moment and heard the voice go on. "You'll break it! Get down here right now!" I peeked down over the side and it was a man with medic patches on his forearms.
"Whatever." I rolled my eyes and went back to leaning on the main shaft. "You made me do this!" He yelled up and cocked his gun. I moved back more and heard the bullet collide into the wood. I pulled a slow smile and peeked over, seeing him reload furiously.
"Lousy shot I'd say!" I yelled at him. He growled and aimed at me again. I heard the second shot but never saw it. He threw his gun down. "Get down here!" I scowled and went up to the edge. "Whatcha' 'gonna to do faggot?!" I spit back at him. I flipped my blade and moved over the back of the roof to stay. I stuck the apple in my mouth and chewed on it while listening to his cursing.
Then I heard another voice.
"Need help?" "There some crazy girl on my roof!" "I'll handle it...." I heard rustling and then I heard the wood to my right start to creak. I swallowed a chunk of apple I bit off and started climbing the opposite way, sticking the apple back in my mouth so I had one of my hands-free. The man grabbed my ankle and I tripped, my knee skidding across the wood.
"Ow, damn it!" I kicked the man in the chin and he let go for a second, giving me the chance to kick him in the throat. He cursed and grabbed my arms, crossing them behind my back and forcing me back on my chest again. He started putting handcuffs on me when I shouted and kicked him in the crotch.
I stood and grabbed my knife, forcing it into the middle. My hands were now free, so I turned to the medic and flipped my blade over, sticking it towards his neck. The other man approached me and I stuck the barrel of my desert eagle to his forehead. I could easily kill these two idiots right now.
The medic stuck his hands in the air and I stuck my knife closer to his neck. "Leave me alone," I growled.
"Just, please. Get off my roof.." He pleaded. I heard the wood begin to crack under their feet. The medic scowled at me and I moved back, still aiming at them. The stranger took a dash and jumped off, landing in the weeds. I looked at the medic. "I told you you'd break it.." I rolled my eyes and shoved him off as well. I sat there again for a while when I decided that sitting on his roof got boring so I jumped off and put my hands in my pockets, heading for the city.
It wasn't that far, but worth the walk. I walked into the Pub and heard tinkering on the second floor. I listened closely and heard a voice say, "It's nothing personal." I whipped around but no one was there. I heard a boot impact into something then a soft scream. I peeked up the stairs and saw a man, beating on a helpless, small, girl. I glared and when he saw me, he jumped out the window, running for his life. I climbed up and ran out after him. The little girl would lay on her side, watching silently.
I tackled the man and started beating his jaw and face. He kicked me in the gut and started running again. I grabbed his ankle and he fell on his chest and groaned. He whipped around and stuck me in the arm with a metal plate, it temporarily stunning me. I heard a slight crackle and I gripped my arm, swaying.
"What the h-hell was that?" I shook a bit. Damn, that was a sharp shock.
"A taser." He slowly grinned. "It suits you," I growled and socked him in the stomach. He grabbed his police baton, turning it on, wild with electricity, and my eyes widened. I pulled my knife and flipped it over. This was going to get ugly. I stared him down as he grinned, a bit of blood pouring from the right side of his mouth. He twitched it towards me, teasing me. His tease worked because I flinched back and nearly fell. He lunged forward and took a swipe at me, I pulled just in time and took a clean stab in his gut.
He screamed and fell on his knees. I looked at the little girl. She looked terrified. She had a small pink pocketknife. I found this adorable for the fact that she couldn't get a mile with that little thing. Probably why the man took a picking on her. Maybe he raped her, but I won't ask her that.
She was very small and looked like she was thirteen. "Hey," I called out. She flinched and stared at me. I stared back. She had blond hair with purple dip-dyed ends. She had a black tank top on, jeans, and combat boots. Surprising gear for someone like her. "What can I call you, little one.." She shook slightly.
"Sakura." She had a slight Australian accent.
"Hm..." I looked at her pocketknife and unsheathed my katana. She stepped back and kept staring at me with her big eyes. I looked up at her and put it back in its sheath, removing it from my belt. I slipped the string around the sheath and held it out to her. "You won't last long with that little pocketknife.."
I usually don't help people, but assaulting someone like her is something I won't just watch. For God's sake, this is an apocalypse not a Beat-down-Everyone-That-You-See-Because-There's-an-Outbreak kind of thing. I don't play nice with others but I can deal with idiots if they're giving me a lifeline. But right now I need nothing but my food and water. And me of course.
She inched forward and slowly took it from my hands. I stared at her blankly the entire time until she tied it to her belt. "How old are you?" I narrowed my eyes. She looked up at me.
"Sixteen..." She said quietly. No way this little girl is sixteen.
"No way..." I said, sheathing my knife.
"I speak of the truth, ma'am..." She looked at me and clutched the katana. "Thank you very much for your kind offering.." I nodded and turned, walking towards Terminus. I tossed my head over my shoulder and saw her waving good-bye. I managed and smile and waved back.
