Two months. That's all the peace I got. Two months away from all my problems and they followed me here. And I'm not even exaggerating.
I looked up and saw Sam approaching me. My heart sank. "What're you doing here?.." He frowned.
Oh, well...
"Tired of Hawaii's shit," I said plainly.
"Same here.." He nodded, sitting beside me.
He was fidgeting. I didn't notice until then. I glanced over.
"Joao and Adrien kidnapped Mika." He murmured. "Took one of her organs. She got away, though." He sighed, glancing away. "You need to contain that animal.."
"I'll talk to him, then," I said, trying to ward him off. He nodded and I stood, trying to head to the bar.
He followed.
I sat at the counter, grabbing a bottle of Jack Daniels. He sat next to me, taking a bottle of Whisky. It was quiet. Up until he stopped drinking and put down the bottle. "Some people just want to watch others in the world burn.." He mumbled.
I sighed, sitting back. He's diving head first into another series of complaints. Make this chapter one.
He just continued to talk under his breath. I eventually stopped listening to him. He was just going to talk all the fight out of him and stop.
"All he cares about is himself.." When he said this, it caught my ear. It settled in my mind and I abruptly stood up, walking away, leaving my drink. "You're just going to stand up for him?!" He barked in rage.
"Mhm," I said casually, walking out the door. Before I left, I heard a smash and Sam's frustrated voice, cursing violently.
~~
I told Joa.
I'm not sure why, but I told him everything. I don't view it as "telling on Sam and getting his ass beat" ordeal, but his words hurt me like a whip to my back. Especially what he said in the bar.
I was with Jackson, allowing him to sit on my lap when my radio suddenly buzzed. I took it from my pocket and Jack's voice rung out of it.
"Carmen! I-i-its-s-s Jack!" His voice was static-like over the speaker. I adjusted one of the buttons, which helped a bit.
"Hey?" I responded.
"I got some. News.." He said. I got a partial bad feeling. "Mika may or may not have shanked me, soo..." His tone dropped. "I threw her over the railing..." He sounded unsure.
"Jesus.." I mumbled. James sauntered over and I side glanced at him. "Where did she go?" I asked Jack.
"I thought she went to Florida. She's not there?.." I couldn't tell what was in his voice. I peered a bit.
"No," I said flatly. I heard a small "tch" through the radio.
"Well, she left me to take care of Bambi. I'm just going to be here." He explained. Bambi was probably that little girl. I nodded, even though he couldn't see me.
Joa sauntered away, going through the series of ramps, then out of sight.
"...Right. I'll talk to you later."
"Right," Jack said. Then I turned off my radio. James went away as well, following Joa.
I picked up Jackson and put him on his feet, standing afterward. I ruffled his hair. "Where do you wanna go?"
"Adventure!" He yelled, running down the ramp. I shook my head, following after him. He ran up to a stranger and grabbed the basketball off the ground, looking up at him.
