"Another reason why treating human beings as “just another animal” can be problematic is that in many ways we are very exceptional animals indeed. Although other creatures can learn from conspecifics and may even have local traditions, human cultural transmission and the diversity of practices that it has engendered are unique, and how we should approach the study of human behaviour from an evolutionary adaptationist perspective is therefore controversial.

One approach to the issue of cultural diversity is to attempt to make sense of the distinct practices of people in different parts of the world as representing facultative adaptation to the diversity in local ecological circumstances.

A nice example is provided by demonstrations that cross- cultural variation in the use of spices is partly to be understood as response to variation in local and foodstuff- specific rates at which unrefrigerated foods spoil and in the antimicrobial effectiveness of particular spices." Nathaniel explains on the uniqueness of Human Behaviour.

"With that being said I'd like your essays to be handed in by 11:59 tonight. Any essays handed in after will receive zero. No exceptions unless you have a proper reason as to why you couldn't." He says and ends class.

Just as he comes to his laptop to end the call a student approaches him.

"Hey Dr James, I'd just like to say that I love your class and find it very beneficial. Today's lecture was very informative and helped a lot. I also noticed that you don't have a student admin and I'd love to help you privately when you need to be served." She says winking at the end and my jaw clenches.

Why do I feel like this. I seriously can be jealous. He's my professor, I can't be having a crush on him and the fact that I live with him makes this even worse.

I leave the call and shut my laptop. Pulling out my airpods I sigh in frustration.

I hear a knock at the door and I get up and walk to the door, my foot finally being healed and I'm able to walk properly now, opening it I'm met with Ronan.

"Felix, the doctor that helped you, is here to check up on you. Unless you are still busy with lectures." He says and I shake my head in response.

I take off my hoodie and make my way down the stairs and see a man with red hair staring at me.

"Hi I'm Felix." He greets and waves at me.

"Hi. I'm guessing you already know my name." I say and he nods.

"I'm here to check up on you and see how your injuries are healing." He explains and I nod even though I already know.

"Do you mind lifting up your shirt so I can see the bruises and cuts. If you're not comfortable with Ronan being here, I can ask him to leave." He says and I shake my head.
