. . .

"Love."

I hum as I look up and meet Christian's gaze.

"What are you doing?" He questions and I show him my book.

"Annotating." I answer and he gasps in horror.

"You're seriously writing and highlighting in a book. How could you." He acts appalled and I giggle at how he looks.

He smiles and pecks my forehead making me still. Why would he do that? Do friends do that to each other?

Gosh I suck at this stuff. I wish I had friends before I met them, then I wouldn't be so awkward.

"What are you thinking about?" He taps my head, sitting down on the bed, still in his suit that he wore to class.

"Nothing much." I say and that's when the thought of my dad pops up in my head.

"Oh shit. My dad." I say grabbing my phone and going to my dad's contact and calling him.

"I forgot about my dad, he must be worried about me." I explain and he nods clenching his jaw.

The phone rings until it goes to voicemail.

Sighing, I call him once more and he still doesn't answer.

That's weird normally he answers as soon as I call him.

Maybe he's busy and can't answer my call. I decide not to call him again, maybe he'll call back once he's free.

"He's not answering?" Christian asks and I nod as he just stares at me. I look away from his stare and my eyes look over the decor of the room. I haven't really looked at this room.

It's really nice. Dark furniture, sheets, curtains. He must like dark colours like I do.

"It's weird because normally he answers as soon as I call. But he might be busy, although normally he's finished work by now." I say checking the time on my phone, seeing that it's already 6pm.

"He'll get back to you when he's able to, don't worry about him yet, love." He says and I nod, placing my phone down and picking up my book.

I'm reading a book called Verity by Colleen Hoover.

My god it's so good. The way she writes is amazing. I could never write like her. And to think I wanted to be an author one day is humiliating.

"What do you need?" I ask as Christian carries on staring at me. I've noticed that they like to stare at me for long periods of time.

"Nathaniel told me to ask you if you would like to help him with dinner." He answer and I place my bookmark on the last page I'm on before closing the book and putting all my stuff away.
