"Do you have everything?" I asked as I impatiently drummed my fingers against the hard counter of the kitchen. My head was spinning a little, but I was doing my best to ignore it.
"Nearly, just a few more things." Gerard replied as he hurried around the room, shoving various sketch books and other creative items into a bag.
"How long are you packing for?" I retorted, raising my eyesbrows and folding my arms over my chest. "We're only going to the hospital. It's going to take a maximum of 4 hours and you've pretty much packed the kitchen sink."
"I might get bored." He argued his lips pressing into a cute pout.
"That's true, you do have a very short attention span. But that still doesn't mean you need to pack more than I pack for a weeks holiday."
"Alright Miss Bossy, there's no need to get cranky at me." Gerard moaned, holding hands up in defeat.
I sighed and then spoke calmly. "Gerard Fucking Way, you better get your arse out that door before I whip you so hard with your own bag, you won't be able to shit properly for months."
Gerard nodded hastily and then bolted out the door, not before grabbing another pack of pencils that was sitting on the counter next to the front door. Then we were walking along the cracked concrete towards the hospital. I did my best to hold my head and keep my vision from blurring.
"So then he shot himself in the foot instead of the guy." Gerard giggled hysterically and swayed to tip his head backwards and let out a full blow laugh, showing all his teeth in the process. I raised my eye brow at him and tried to smile as much as I could, seeing that I was hooked up to a dialysis machine.
"So tell me again what game this was on?" I asked cautiously, my head still booming.
Gerard stopped laughing abruptly and I knew I would miss thst beautiful sound. He frowned a little and sat up. "It's not a game, it's a TV program."
"Oh sorry." I muttered.
"I knew you weren't listening to me." Gerard grumbled. "It was crime stoppers, where it shows the police in real events."
"Sorry Gee." I tried to warm my smile and leaned towards him as much as was possible to put my hand on his thigh. "I'm just not feeling that great."
"No, I'm sorry Dana, you shouldn't have to listen to me rambling while you're hooked up to that horrible machine."
"It's not horrible, it's keeping me alive." I retorted, not wanting to tell him about how bad I had been feeling all morning.
"But it's hurting you. It my books that makes it bad." Then he shifted in his chair and quickly changed the subject. "Can I draw you?" he asked innocently, eyes wide, as he drew a sketch pad and a pencil from seemingly nowhere.
"Sure Gee, but I look rough." I answered honestly.
"You look beautiful to me Dana." I blushed at this remark but held a small smile on my face as Gerard began to scratch lines into the thick paper.
As Gerard had been busy sketching for 10 minutes and had not looked up, I decided to occupy myself with other means of entertainment. I reached for my phone and quickly dialled Mikey's number. The dial rang four times before a quite voice sounded at the other end.
"What took you so long?" I demanded.
"Oh, hi Dana. Me and Frank were just playing video games. How are you?" Mikey's voice was a little raspy and so I has to strain to hear him.
