~Gerard’s POV~

I woke up with a jump as I heard a loud crash coming from the next room. I tried to get up to investigate, forgetting about Dana, who still lay asleep on my shoulder. I stopped struggling and allowed her sleeping frame to flop back onto me.

I looked around, searching for a clock or something that could tell me the time in the bright room but didn’t see one. I took a glance out of the large bay window which allowed light to flow like a river into the living room. From the brightness that was entering the room and the cheerful blue sky that sat above the trees, it looked about 3pm.

We must have slept through the morning, I though and shuffled around on the leather sofa in discomfort.

I had just found a comfortable position by sitting on my hands, which is a little weird, but strangely relaxing, when I heard another crash coming from the next room.

My arms shot up, as I jumped in shock, almost hitting Dana square in the face. Almost. I quickly but gently stroked her cheek, despite the fact that I didn’t hit her.

I decided that I should probably get up and find out what the mysterious crashing was. ‘I hope it isn’t a vampire’ I thought, and I let out a small chuckle at that. I slid my arm under Dana’s legs and the other under her back and carefully, so as not to wake her, picked her up - as people call it ‘Bridal Style’ – and slid I off the sofa before placing her back down where I had been sitting.

I wrapped a chequered blanket over her silently so she wouldn’t be cold, because the house was surprisingly nippy for a nice summer day. She stirred a little before snuggling up to the blanket cutely.

I left her sleeping and proceeded to head towards the kitchen, the place where the noise had emanated from. I fidgeted nervously as I came close to the opening and heard muffled scuffling. ‘I really hope it isn’t a vampire’ I though again. But this time I managed to hold back a giggle.

I rounded the corner ready to attack the intruder with me manliness. ‘Ha-ha, you wish!’ I though to myself again. I tiptoed into the airy kitchen to see the fridge and freezer doors open and a pair of thin legs could be seen slightly through the gap.

I sneaked round to stand behind the mysterious fridge raider, who was wearing a black hoodie and black skinny jeans. I was about to reach out and tap the intruder on the shoulder and give him hell when they turned around.

I screamed, he screamed. I had gathered they were a ‘he’ by the way that their voice cracked when they screamed like a girl.

“Gee?” The screaming figure stopped and spoke.

“Mikey?” I asked, knowing his voice instantly, concern on my face.

“And Frank!” The small boy I had met a few days ago cried as he leapt through the doorway from the next room.

“Hi, Gerard.” Mikey said. “You scared the shit out of me.” He said shyly.

“So did you! I thought you were a vampire.” I replied, quickly blushing when I realised I had spilt a secret thought. “What’re you doing here?” I continued.

“I gathered Dana would be out of Hospital now, so me and Frank came down to make her some dinner and have a movie night. I would have invited you to come but I figured you would have been out doing what you do.” He said shrugging. “I didn’t know you were going to be here. But I guess it makes sense.”

“What do I do?” I asked almost angrily. “Plus how did you get it? Did you pick the lock?” I asked worriedly, hoping he hadn’t seen me and Dana on the sofa because he still thinks we’re just friends.
