Chapter 18

We were back home.

It's so nice to have a place and people to call your home. Samuel and Kyle were my home. At the point I was in my life I was very happy. My baby boy was growing bigger everyday he even said his first word. He called Samuel Dada and even though we were unable to get it on camera, I knew that Samuel would not forget that anytime soon. Samuel and I decided to wait until Kyle was a year old before I would open my shop and I checked up on my brother and Abigail the day we came back. That leaves just my mom remaining. She didn't even know about the recent developments in my life but according to what Paul said, she knows my baby and I are fine. I promised myself that I was going to visit her very soon.

     Samuel's mom was a regular visitor in the house. Kyle could be thinking that his grandmother loved him more than I did. She was upstairs with Kyle when I left the room.

   I was sitting on the couch watching a series when Mandy  entered and took a seat next to me.

  " Hey, Kyle fell asleep. He's on his bed. " She explained. " Oh and I wanted to ask a favor.  Matilda said that she wants to spend two weeks with her brother she misses him and she promised not to give you a hard time. From what I've noticed, she seems like she's a changed person. She comes home early and her grades are coming up. So since she's on holiday she asked me and I told her that I have to ask you first as it's not my decision to make. " She said.

    I remember Matilda. I know she doesn't like me. I have a bad feeling about this and I hope I won't regret this.

    ” Oh I don't have a problem with that as long as Samuel doesn't object to it."

  "Okay, thank you love, although it would take more time to convince Samuel, I feel like he's angry at Matilda. Oh well I'll see how it goes. "

  She grabbed her channel handbag.

" I have to go now, my girls and I are going shopping, You've met Sharon yeah?"  She asked and I shook my head.

  " Oh dear she was at your party, I guess I didn't introduce her to you. Well I better correct that. I'll bring her to the house when next I have the opportunity. Anyways her daughter- in law is having a baby soon and Sharon wants to buy a few things for the baby" She said.

   " That's so nice. Anyways have fun and be safe." I said as she happily walked out of the house.

   Gerta walked into the living room with a chocolatey scent. She held two cups of hot chocolate with a smile on her face.

  It was as if she knew what I was craving.

   " Take it so that Kyle can enjoy some breast milk." She said while she dropped a cup in front of me and she sipped on the other one as she sat next to me.

  "Thank you Gerta." I said.

   " You're most welcome my dearest."

  "  You know, you've changed Samuel so much. He's more at ease now. Before he was this workaholic, he never smiled you know? You and Kyle are like this ray of sunshine in his life. I'm happy and even though it wasn't the best circumstances I'm very happy it all worked out. "  Gerta said whilst blowing air on her cup in a bid to warm the drink. 

  Then I heard a shrill cry upstairs.

   " I guess Kyle needs attention now." I said as I ran upstairs to carry him he soiled his diapers so I quickly changed it. Then I heard my phone ringing and I checked the caller ID and it was Samuel and I quickly picked up.

   "Hey" I said
    " Hey Kim, how are you and how's my baby boy." He asked.

" I'm okay, I was just talking with your mom a few minutes ago and Kyle is a handful again. He just soiled himself." I said and he chuckled.

   "So how is work? I asked him.

   "Well there's a few issues here and there but it's nothing I can't handle." He replied.

" Okay, have you had lunch yet? it's past two."

   "No I've been busy." He said

   " What did I tell you Samuel, you don't have an excuse and I'm not ready to listen to any excuse so it's better you do as I tell you. As soon as you're getting off this call you're going to eat ." I commanded

"But Kim I." He protested.

   "No buts just go and eat you need your energy." I said

” For tonight?" He asked.

   "Get off my phone Samuel." I said with a small laugh as I disconnected the call.

   Samuel came home five hours later. I was in the kitchen chatting with chef Luigi.

  " Hey," I said to him but he wasn't smiling. His expression was guarded and cold.

" Excuse me Luigi." I said as I dragged him out of the kitchen and into an empty guest room that was downstairs.

  " What's wrong Samuel?" I asked.

   " How could you agree to letting Matilda come live with us. I mean after all the mean things she said to you. "

  I was at a loss for words. " Well. Um ..but she apologized and she's your sister and I don't want her to think I'm the one stopping her from having a relationship with you." I explained to him.

    " Listen to me Kim, I know Matilda more than you do she's my sister but she's evil. She's very selfish and she can be very manipulative especially when she doesn't like a person. I could come up with a list of workers she got fired from the house because she didn't like them . Matilda doesn't really like you and I thought it would be best if we stayed away from her. Actually she has been asking me but I refused I don't know how she managed to convince mom."

  " She's only staying for two weeks . I don't see how anything could go terribly wrong." I said and deep down, I hoped it was true.
