To say I was excited was an understatement. I was elated, ecstatic, overjoyed. Any other word you can think of to describe the way I was feeling now. I was going to be a mother. I took in a breath of fresh air as I glanced at the wedding ring on my finger.
" You're going to be a father Sam, I wish you were here with me right now." I felt fresh tears streaming down my face.
" This is it, no going back" I said as I took a step towards the hospital.

" Mrs Williams, we're done. You'll need to come in for a checkup in two weeks time to confirm if you're pregnant." The nurse Tiffany said.
" Thanks a lot Tiffany, I'll see you in two weeks time." As I exit the hospital, I couldn't help but visit the florist to buy a bunch of flowers to visit my husband. I drove to the cemetery and sat down on his grave.
"Hi Sam,I miss you a lot. Why did you have to leave me huh? We're going to be parents and you're not going to be here to see your child. You've been gone for two years and I can barely cope without you, how am I supposed to raise this child by myself? God I...I miss you so much." I choked on my words as I tried to fight back tears. I cried for so long that I lost track of time. When I finally stood up, it was dark. I dropped the flowers on his grave and then I wiped my tears and left.
Sam and I were married for two years. We met at my final year in college at a party hosted by Abigail my best friend and we began dating ever since. He proposed to me after my graduation and we got married. We were still at the early stages of our careers so we refused to have children for the time being. Sam was a lawyer and I managed a fashion designing shop. Sam had a fatal accident while he was driving in the middle of a storm. His body was found a day after next to his damaged car. Ever since Sam died three years ago, I felt so lonely. I couldn't love another man the way I loved Sam and since he donated his sperm at our family hospital, I decided to have artificial insemination done in order to conceive his child.
I was startled by the sound of my phone ringing as I sat down to eat my dinner. I checked the caller ID.
" Hi mom."
" Oh Kim,I assume you've done it. You sound so happy."
" Yes mom , it was successful. I'll know in two weeks time."
I said to her.
" Oh darling, I know you'll be a terrific mother. I wish Sam was with you."
" Yes mom. I wish the same thing."
" I love you Kimberly, don't you forget that.''
" I love you too mom. Please send my kisses to dad ."
" Okay honey , Goodbye "
" Goodbye...mom." I hung up as I switched on the television and sat down to eat my dinner.
