I sighed as Jordan parked my car in front of the USCIS building. Today is our interview date.

A month ago we received the approval of my petition for him as my husband. Finally! The label dawned on me with satisfaction. I am a wife now and I have a husband.

The approval came on the fourth month since we turned in the paperwork pagka-uwi namin from our one-week wholesome honeymoon.

Wholesome because we didn't have sex. But I believed that I allowed him some kissing, but never petting. I didn't think I was ready for that. Besides, naku-kosensiya pa rin ako palagi thinking that he had a girlfriend waiting for him in the Philippines.

So, our lives continued pagbalik namin sa Dallas. He was still very caring to a fault. He still opens the door for me, carry things for me. Kulang na lang ay kandungin niya ako kapag minsan tingin niya ay nahihirapan ako sa kinauupuan ko. But he tried to be as un-lusty as possible.

Kapag ganoon ay naiisip ko agad na baka nagi-guilty din siya upon remembering his girl in the Philippines na hanggang ngayon ay hindi pa rin siya kinakausap. It had been almost six months since he arrived in the United States. Kapag nakatiis ng ganoon katagal ang babae without communication with her boyfriend, ano ba ang ibig sabihin niyon?

When we received the approval of the petition last month, I asked my paralegal if we could get Jordan's social security and driver's license already, and the woman said yes. So, we got that out of the way.

His salary was now in dollars and twice as much as before considering that he was given a one-year working permit along with the approval of the petition. Isa ito sa mga rason kaya ang bilis niya rin nakakuha ng social security. Although hindi ko alam kung magkano ang suweldo niya before, which would really be high to afford all the things he had been paying since he arrived here. Doubling it every month might just make the man a millionaire in pesos. Imagine how much he would have in a year.

Bukod doon ay may mga sideline si Jordan. Being an Architect ay tumatanggap siya ng mga trabaho na hindi dumadaan sa opisina. Those were referrals of friends and families. Mabuti at nasa US na siya. I believe in the Philippines, kapag ganito ay bawal ang side job. It would be labeled as a conflict of interest na hindi naman iniintindi dito sa America. You could work your ass off to as much job as you could basta magbabayad ka ng tax. And he should be able to have his conditional green card which is two years valid before his working permit expired. After that saka pa lang kami makaka apply for the unconditional ten years green card. On the third year of having that, makaka-apply na siya for American Citizenship.

Everything just fell into the right places.

Our normal routine at home had been real. Para talaga akong may-asawa. I got used to it. Jordan had been taking care of all things he promised he would take care of. Every weekend kapag naglalaba ako at naglilinis ng bahay ay tumutulong din siya. Nahihiya na nga lang ako kaya minsan kapag nagpapaalam siyang aalis ay sinasamantala ko ang paglilinis at paglalaba. He also planned to replace my old car with a brand new one so we could have another car. I told him to do it pagkakuha ng green card niya since he admitted na wala siyang balak papasukin ako sa ospital mag-isa. Until now ay hatid sundo niya pa rin ako, I didn't see the use of the new car.
