Dina
mentally unbalanced; deranged.
It's been a year since the whole Luca situation, and three months since we've last seen Aubrei.
When we left Havana and came to Detroit, she told us that she needed some time alone. Which I completely understood, but what I don't understand is not keeping in touch.
We agreed once a week, to keep in touch. It's going on almost four, since we've last talked.
I knock on the loft door that's blasting music. No one answers it, Raven groans and pulls out some tools from her book bag, swiftly unlocking the door.
Aubrei is in her living room swaying and singing along to Dernière Danse by Indila. The stench of weed hits my nose as I walk further into her apartment.
I realize she's covered in paint as she sways over to the canvas she's painting. Her appearance is different from the last time i've seen her.
"Je ne suis qu'un être sans importance." She sings and takes a gulp of something from her glass. "Sans lui, je suis un peu paro."
"Is she serious?" Raven asks from beside me. "Fucking idiot." She mumbles.
"Aubrei!" I yell. No answer, she puts the blunt to her mouth and takes a drag of it, exhaling smoke from her nose. In the midst of dancing and singing, she somehow grabs a gun and points it at us. "Stop pointing that thing at us." She removes her sunglasses to get a better look. By the redness in her eyes I can tell she's high. Raven goes and lowers the volume on the bluetooth.
"I thought I told you two, not to visit me." She slurs, putting the gun away. "And who told you to turn down my music?"
"It's too loud, you're gonna get a complaint." Raven folds her arms. "Are you high or drunk?"
"Both." She shrugs, downing the rest of the liquid in her glass.
"Why?" Raven asks disgusted.
"Why not, Raven?" Aubrei rolls her eyes.
In the past few months these two have bumped heads.
Hard.
"Look at you. You're throwing yourself away. You hav-"
"Don't wanna hear it." She takes another drag of the blunt.
"You want Luca to find and kill you, huh?"
"Raven, I really don't give a fuck."
"Stop it, you two." I say.
"No! You think i'm gonna sit here and watch you become an addict? No i'm not." Raven walks closer to Aubrei. "You think Lorenzo would've wanted his mother to be addicted to alcohol and drugs?"
"Raven!" I yell.
Aubrei eye twitches. "Well Lorenzo isn't here is he? Hm? You go and bring him back to me. And I'll quit all this." She smiles. "Oh, that's right, you can't. Because he's gone and he's never coming back."
"And whose fault is that?" Raven says menacingly.
"Raven, seriously stop." I plead.
"And don't forget about the promise you made to Ma'Kai, after killing his mother." Raven scoffs. "He'll probably end up dead too."
Aubrei takes a deep breath then let's out an unsettling chuckle. And before I know it, Raven is smacked into the glass coffee table, shattering it.
"You insolent child, you have no respect for your elders." Aubrei says laughing. "You're buying me a new coffee table."
