I took a deep breath, "I send your dad updates on you. He knows you exist. He knew about you when I found out. He still calls me begging for me to let him meet you," I confessed. "Why won't you? Because he's been wanted for the back eighteen years?" Kieran asked. "Yes. Because I don't want you getting used to him being around only for him to be taken away," I said. "Is that why you haven't dated anyone? Why do you always turn guys down and never commit to anyone? Because your still in love with dad?" He asked. This kid was really smart. "Yes," I said.
"Mom, I want to meet him. I don't care what he did in the past. I know it wasn't good and he killed people but people change. So, please. Please can I meet him? Maybe he can come here. We don't have to go out in public. Please, mom," he begged. I looked at him. His eyes were the same as his father's. It was like looking at Stu when he was that age. I nodded, "Okay. I'll call him," I said. "Thank you. Thank you, mom! I love you!" He said giving me a hug and then he kissed my cheek before running upstairs.
I stood up and walked into the kitchen to get my phone. I went through my recent calls and hit Stu's contact before bringing it to my ear. I felt like I was going to be sick. It's been so long since I've seen him. "Hey, baby." There it was. The one thing that has never changed over the years. He still called me baby. "Hey, Stu. Umm.... So look, I just had a long talk with Kieran," I said. I had to stop and take a deep breath. "Is everything okay?" He asked. "Yeah, everything is fine. Umm... Kieran wants to meet you. I explained everything to him so he knows what you did eighteen years ago. But he still wants to meet you if you--"
"Yes! Absolutely I do. When can I come over?" He asked. I pinched the bridge of my nose and sighed. "How about tonight? It's the weekend and I don't have to be in LA. Maybe and only maybe-- if it goes well-- maybe you can stay for the weekend and so you can get to know each other and bond," I said. This was probably a bad idea. He was living in the cabin. Billy had left and moved far away where no one would know who he was. Stu changed his name so he wasn't recognized anywhere unless someone recognized him from the wanted posters eighteen years ago. The search for them kind of faded away after five five years and with other people trying to kill Sidney and I as ghostface.
"I would really like that, baby. Thank you. This is all I've wanted. I know I fucked up big time back then and if I could do It over I would you know that. It killed me not being able to be there for you through the pregnancy and for when our son was born. I wish I could have given you everything you deserve. But thank you. Is seven okay?" I looked at the clock to see it was four o'clock. "Yeah, pick pizza up on your way please. Kieran likes everything you do," I said. "I can do that. I'll see you in a few hours. I love you." With that he hung up. That was another thing that never changed. He always told me he loved me even if I never said it back.
"Is he coming?" I turned around to see Kieran looking at me with curious eyes. "Yup. He'll be here around seven with pizza," I told him. He ran over and hugged me again. He was tall like Stu and towered over me. "Thank you, mom. You're the best," he said. "I better be," I said, hugging him back.
When seven rolled around Stu was knocking on the door. I opened it to see him standing there with pizza in hand. My breath caught in my throat at the sight of him. He looked just as good as he did the last time I saw him on that stage. I cleared my throat and stepped aside. "Come in. Pizza came on the counter," I said. He walked in and went straight to the kitchen. "Can't believe this place still looks the same," he said, setting the pizza on the counter. "Yeah, I like it the way it is," I said. "Is your old room still the same?" He asked. "Of course it is," I said. I walked back over to the stairs, "Kieran!" I yelled up. "Yeah?" I rolled my eyes. Stu came to stand beside me and I looked up at him. "Teenagers."
"Kieran!" I yelled again. "What? I'm in the middle of a game, mom!" Stu chuckled beside me and I gave him a fake glare. "Well you're just going to have to pause it or whatever," I yelled. "Mom," he whined. "Boy, get your ass down here! Your dad is here!" I yelled. There was a bang and then footsteps running towards the stairs. Kieran's room was Sidney's old room so he was just at the top of the landing. He ran down a few steps and stopped and just looked at Stu. "Hey, bud. It's great to finally be able to meet you," Stu said. Kieran just stood there for a few minutes staring before he bounded down the stairs and threw his arms around Stu's shoulders knocking him back a little. Stu returned the embrace and I couldn't help the tears that sprung to my eyes.
It was like looking at twins. Stu was only a few inches taller than Kieran but he was a carbon copy of his father. "Mom was right. I do look just like you," he said and they pulled away. "Yeah, it's kinda freaky," Stu said. We went to the kitchen and sat down at the table and at dinner. Afterwards Stu and Kieran went to the living room and Stu answered every question Kieran asked no matter how hard it was to answer. We watched a few movies together, horror of course. And at the end of the night Kieran asked if Stu could stay for the weekend. "Of course, baby," I said. That earned me another kiss on the cheek before he gave his dad a hug and went up to bed.
That left me and Stu alone. Something I wasn't sure I wanted. Him being here brought back a lot of memories both good and bad. But it also brought all those feelings for him rushing back. "Tonight was perfect. He's a great kid, baby. You did an amazing job with him," Stu said. "He is a really great kid. He's like his father," I said. Stu smiled then laughed. "What?" I asked. "Well, besides the fucked up psycho part," he said. I laughed and shook my head. "Yeah, besides that. But people change and that was the past," I said. He looked up at me smiled, "I love you." Maybe this wasn't bad at all. I was kind of starting to wish I had done it sooner.
A/N: And that's a wrap! Thank you for sticking with through this long journey. This book went on much longer than I planned for it to. I hope you enjoyed and are happy with the ending. Enjoy the picture I chose for an older, 36 year old Stu.
