My week went by relatively smoothly, though there were more complaints than usual. Normally the only complaints were about overcooked eggs not being up to par, and even then they were just sent up to the front desk. This week, I had received over 10 calls, all straight to my office phone. Although the complaints weren't too severe, it still pissed me off that peoples opinions of my hotel might have changed. The majority of the complaints were with regards to noise. I received calls about loud crying noises, obnoxiously loud music and the slamming of doors at an early hour. The crying noises could have easily been one of the children in the hotel, the slamming of doors could have been an employee rushing to help a guest and I was pretty sure I knew who had been playing the loud music. I walked briskly out of my office, mentally reminding myself to store some Advil in there. I had a terrible headache, and my glasses kept slipping down the bridge of my nose. Maybe I need to get those fixed. I slipped my glasses into my suit pocket as I passed the front desk.
"Cory, do you think you could get a bottle of Advil and put it on the desk in my office?" I asked one of my best employees. Cory was a respectful guy, with blonde hair and light eyes.
"Sure thing, Mr.Quinn. Headaches again?"
I nodded my head and replied with a quick "Thank you." before continuing to walk and continue my rounds. Usually my rounds consisted of me walking through every floor, as well as walking through the kitchen, pool and other areas. It gave me a chance to socialize with guests and employees, as well as get in some exercise. Some people thought I was a bit tubby. Cough dad cough. But lets face it, sitting around taking calls in an office all day doesn't exactly help make you fit. Especially not when you do that job 7 days a week. I was about to head back to my office when I saw exactly who I was looking for. He was about to walk out the door when I tapped him lightly on the shoulder.
"Hello." I said.
"Heyy-" he turned around, his eyes widening when he realized it was me who tapped him."yy-oh nope. Bye." He quickly spun around again. What the fuck?
"Wait, hey! Mr. Fuentes!" I called.
He slowly stopped walking, and spun around on one foot. It seemed like what someone would do in a movie after they got caught trying to leave when they weren't supposed to. He looked up at me as he fiddled with the sleeve of his sweatshirt.
"Um, hi." he seemed nervous.
"Hello." I said again. "I have recently received some complaints-"
"Oh shit, the crying? That, was um my mom of the phone, um she missed me or something." He mumbled.
"Actually I was coming to talk to you about loud mu-"
"You're not wearing glasses Specs!" he shouted making me flinch.
"Thats irrelevant. I was trying to express my concern about loud music."
"Kay, cool. Not crying, loud music. Got it. I'll be quieter. Is that even a word? Whatever, bye!" He said speedily before practically running out the front doors. He threw his skateboard down and jumped on, speeding away before I even finished what I needed to say.
