Zayba
The wake up call came too early, as early as 4:29am the arena was serene, only to be distracted by her phone ringing, she woke up to Fuad's call, "wakey wakey, let's pray for the big day ahead."
"Isn't it too early." She whispered in a cracky voice.
"Nope, I'm just right on time, so move that fat ass from that bed and put in some work!"
She smiled before whispering "yes baby, thank you, and I love you so much!"
"Alright, have fun out there, you know you can do it, there's no body better than you there, I know."
" baby!"
"Yes! You're better than everyone there, I don't care who they are, so go kill it!"
"They are all dead man!" She replied.
"Now that's the energy, bye, keep me informed about everything and any man that looks at you twice."
She let out a laugh before saying " you won't miss an alphabet from the whole gist, my eyes will tape everything and my ears will do the recordings!"
"Go bestie!" He cheered.
"Love you to the moon and beyond!"
"Love you too babes! Eat before you go to work!"
"Sure, I'm making noodles already!"
"It's barely 5am and you're making noodles, well all good just eat."
He let out a sly laugh and said "I was only pulling your legs but I'll be a good boy, eat something before the interview please, I know how serious you can be."
"I will, take good care, bye!"
"I will, you too, bye!"

Men and women in various sizes and skin shades, from different tribes and ethnic groups, with envelopes and files were all gathered in a huge room where some other men on black suits and ID cards hanging on their chest were giving them orders and laying some principles down for them.
Everyone out there got tired of waiting for the interview to begin, including Zayba who was so eager to be a part of it.
Two hours of lectures before the interview took forever, until the woman begin to feel sick with an inclination to throw up, nausea, she tried to stay strong but it got out of her hand, her head began to spin and she got dizzy, the woman only woke up on a sick bed and a drip of normal saline connected to her hand.
"Innalillahi what happened here? What I'm I doing here?" She asked rhetorically.
"Calm down miss." the nurse said.
"You were rushed down to the company's hospital after you fainted in the reception."
And there she felt a ting of headache on her forehead "okay, nurse thank you so much, my head is really aching, have you guys figured what's really wrong with me yet?"
"Not yet, thank the man standing by the door, and yes we've gotten a blood sample of yours and the test result will be ready in about an hour."
"Okay, thank you so much sir, I'm really grateful." Zayab said to the light skinned skinny man standing by the door.
"Thank God you're awake, I've been so worried." He stated.
"Thank you sir, and I'm sorry to bother you."
"No not at all, it's my pleasure to help miss, I'd help any person in your position, and thank God it was with the help of one of the men in suit there that you were quickly brought down here."
The thought of other men laying their hands on her when she was unconscious made her cringe, if Fuad was there, there will be no such thing!
"Okay, thank you so much and God bless, and I wish you best of luck with the interview."
"You too, I do hope you get well and join tomorrow's team."
"Hopefully Insha Allah."
"By the way, my name is Jonathan Ebenezer, I'm an indigene here, I must say you're really beautiful ma, and really well spoken, the man in your life must be lucky to have you."
"Funny, thank you so much, and yes he is, we've been married for a year now."
The man looked rather angry than surprised "well congratulations, it's twelve noon by my time I'd suggest you call this man of yours as I leave for the interview." He stated and took his leave.
She wondered why the man was angry all of a sudden, and nevertheless took out her phone from her black mini channel bag that was resting on a table to call Fuad.
"Baby!"
"Yes baby, spill the whole gist."
"Calm down man, well I'll need you to be here soon as I've been admitted in the hospital where I was brought unconsciously and..."
"Unconscious what?" He cuts through.
"Faisal book me the next flight to Enugu now." He commanded.
"Baby stay calm okay, and don't hang up, I'll be there in an hour or two."
