Tanjiro Kamado (Angst/Fluff)

Tanjiro sat on the roof of Shinobu's estate. His hands gripped his thighs, almost in a begging way as if his grip on himself could cure his aching.

He tilted his head up at the stars, as a warm tear slowly fell down his cheek. He brought his left arm up to his heart and gripped the area.

"Why does it hurt so much, Y/N?"

He never expected an answer, the wind couldn't give him one and neither could she. His arms wrapped around himself, begging for a feeling of warmth, or just for this feeling to go away, but he also feared that if it did, he'd forget about her. He constantly feared that if this broken feeling inside of him went away, that he'd forget everything they had.

His fear of losing her memory collided with his desperate need to rid himself of this feeling. All he could was sit on the roof, every night, and think about her while holding himself in desperation. The weight it held on his body physically and mentally was treacherous. It felt like he was being weighed down by a large boulder while he trained. it also didn't help that he just wasn't okay either.

His grip on his shoulders and arms grew tighter, and his cries became more audible. His tears constantly fell onto his kimono, and his eyes began to grow puffy. He spoke in broken whimpers,

"I miss you so much."

The wind began to blow and his body began to enflame itself in a (fav color) aura.

Tanjiro's head shot up, and he saw her. With a sad smile, she placed her hand over his eyes, sending him into a deep slumber.

Upon opening his eyes, he found himself sitting on top of a pond. The air around him was filled with stars and galaxies. In front of him, Y/N sat with her legs crisscrossed atop the pond as well. His heart fluttered, just like the first time he saw her. Tears began to well up in his eyes, and he stretched his hand out for her to hold. Once she grabbed it, and he felt her touch again, he smiled.

"I missed you so much."

"I missed you too, my love."

Tanjiro's thumb glided along the back of her hand, and he felt at peace.

"Where are we?"

"In your dreams."

Tanjiro stood up and looked around, taking the view and burning it into his memory.

"I brought you here because i had something to ask you."

Tanjiro looked down at her, and reassumed his seat on the water.

"Would you like to stay here with me?"

Tanjiro looked into her eyes, and silently thought about his answer. He knew that if he stayed, he'd be abandoning everyone that's still alive, including Nezuko, but he wanted to stay here with her so much. He felt as if he couldn't bare to leave her again.

But he knew what he had to do either way.

"I can't.." A tear slowly fell down his cheek.

Y/N smiled, with a tear falling down her cheek as well.

" I knew you'd say that." She wiped hers and his tears and held his cheek. "You're such a kind soul, my love."

Tanjiro smiled a broken, sad smile, and placed his forehead onto hers.

She enflamed her hands again and caressed his face. Her flames began to burn a bright ( second fav color) aura. She smiled at him as an enflamed tear fell down her face.

"One day we'll meet again my love."

She placed her lips onto his, and both of them became enflamed as they shared their last kiss for eternity.

Tanjiro opens his eyes, and he sees the sun rising. He pulls his knees up to his chest and places his head on top. The thought of never seeing her again was branded into his mind, and with that thought, he began to cry a broken cry.
