【I just go on the hunt and I eat you up
And I won't play if you don't want me】Y/N was finishing her cup of coffee and glanced back at her laptop. She had been here for about two hours, mostly because she had to get out of the house to get some work done. But then she had gotten distracted drinking coffee and now she had barely gotten any work done. Most of the things she had to finish up had a bit more time and she could do them tomorrow, but there was one thing she really had to get done today or Shouta wasn't going to get paid.
It had been about a year since she had gotten expelled from U.A. and since she had gotten together with Shouta. She went back home to live with her parents for about a month, before Shouta suggested that she move in and work for him. At first, Y/N wasn't really sure whether she wanted to do that - she had no idea what kind of work she'd be doing for him and she wasn't sure if she'd enjoy working, but... well, she had gotten a horrible job at a fast food chain in her hometown and if it helped her ditch that job, she was ready to go and work for her boyfriend.
So she packed her things and made her way back to Musutafu, so she could work for Shouta. She wasn't sure whether he wanted her to do any hero work or anything and she wasn't sure if she was even still fit enough to do hero work, but thankfully it was quite different to that. Y/N couldn't really say that it was her dream job. Y/N didn't have a dream job. And that was maybe the whole problem all along - she simply didn't enjoy spending eight or more hours each day slaving away just so she could afford the bare necessities of life.
Working for Shouta included mostly doing his paperwork for him. There was a surprising amount of paperwork involved in getting paid as a hero, and since Shouta had been an independent hero all this time, he had to do all the paperwork himself. No wonder he was so tired all the time. But now Y/N was here to do his paperwork for him and he basically let her live with him for free and paid her a nice enough salary. Not the same she'd get at a hero agency, of course, but she also wouldn't get free rent there, so Y/N was quite happy. And it meant she could free up some time for her and Shouta to spend together and that was another advantage.
And so Y/N had actually managed to hold down a steady job for quite a while this way. She wasn't sure whether she was always going to do this, but for now it seemed like a good start. And her and Shouta were getting to know each other much better in the meantime, which was also pretty nice. Y/N wouldn't really have thought that she would end up actually liking him that much, especially considering that she had been mostly physically attracted to him and didn't really know that much about him. But the more she learned, the more she liked him. Maybe this was meant to be, after all, not that Y/N really believed in soulmates or anything like that.
Either way, she had to go and finish up the work she had started and that had to absolutely, definitely be done today. She tried to focus on her laptop screen again, but it was pretty useless. She couldn't focus properly. Her head was empty and she knew she needed to just leave it for a few hours. The only problem was that she didn't have a few hours to try again. This had to be done today. Y/N sighed and checked her text messages. There were a few from Shouta.
>>Will be home a little earlier today.<<
>>Where are you? Did you go out?<<
Y/N smiled down at her phone. Maybe she could have another cup of coffee with Shouta and maybe he could help her out with the last bit of what she had to do. It really wasn't that much, Y/N had no idea why she was struggling so much to just get it done and over with. But maybe it would be easier with Shouta.
>>Went to the coffee shop down the road to get some work done, needed a change of scenery. But it seems I'm kind of stuck. Do you want to come over and have a cup with me? Maybe then I can focus on getting this done again.<<
Y/N hoped that he was going to reply pretty soon, because she wasn't sure how long she'd be able to even stay awake. This was getting exhausting and she only had a tiny bit left to finish, but it was as if her brain was shutting down as soon as she looked at her laptop screen and she ended up just staring at it for hours and hours on end without getting any work done.
>>Sure, I'll be there in 5. Take a break if you can't focus anymore. We'll have a coffee and then I'll help you out with it. See you!<<
Y/N smiled when she read the text and closed her laptop. She got up and went up to the counter to order coffee. She knew exactly how Shouta liked his coffee, so she figured it made sense for her to order already. Then it wouldn't take as long to get everything done, because right now Y/N just wanted to finish up and go back home. She was getting hungry and she couldn't wait for dinner. Plus, she just wanted to curl up on a couch with Shouta and relax, maybe watch a movie or something.
A year ago Y/N never would have thought that she'd actually find something that would make her even remotely happy. But here she was, with a man she really loved, doing a job that she didn't hate and just living a fairly regular life. And she was pretty happy with it, after all. It wasn't perfect, but it was better than anything she could have imagined.
