CHAPTER 5

Jimin was in Hansol's room. She's free today so she spent her time with her boyfriend.

"your boss needs to go easy on you." Hansol said with concern.

"it paid well. Don't worry." Jimin smiled at him.

"you look tired whenever you're here." Hansol pouted. "should I work too? Like part timer."

"you should finish your thesis." Jimin poked his nose. "you need to take it seriously on that."

"then we can get married?" Hansol said excitedly.

"yeah, whatever you want." Jimin giggled at her boyfriend. She then felt her phone vibrates.

"your boss?" Hansol saw the name.

"yeah. Wait."

After some time, Jimin told Hansol that Minjeong called her to the company.

"what for? Aren't you free today?" Hansol questioned.

"it's still weekday. She probably needs something." All that Jimin could think of is the day that she saw her boss being abused by her father.

"you're late." Minjeong said to her.

"I'm not even working today. What do you want?" Jimin crossed her arm. She didn't feel as intimidated as before.

"is that how you talk to your boss?" Minjeong stood up and walked to her.

"technically, this is not my work day and you called my out of the blue." Jimin kept her head up this time. Making sure to look her in the eyes.

Minjeong grabbed Jimin's head and pushed it down so she stopped looking.

"so that's how you work?" Minjeong eyed the girl. "you stepped on my company. my rules. Now show me some respect."

Jimin scoffed.

"you want me to fire you?" Minjeong threatened. "I gave you some money. Shut your mouth about what you saw."

"is that why you called me?" Jimin said almost laughing in disbelieve. "you're so pathetic."

Minjeong felt her blood boils. How dare she laughed at her.

"you're getting on my last nerve, you know that?" Minjeong got closer to her. Jimin didn't bother to look away.

"should I call the police?" Jimin tried to threat her.

"police? Really?" Minjeong laughed at that. "the police works with me... or for me. don't waste your time on that."

"if that's the only thing you want to say, then I'll leave." Jimin turned away. She then felt a hard grip on her hand.

"did I tell you to leave?" Minjeong pulled her so she faced her again. "Lia is sick. Stay."

"you're sick." Jimin tried to pull her hand back but Minjeong's grip on her is undefeated.

"I take that as a yes." Minjeong then let go of her.

"I have to make a call." Jimin took her phone and called her boyfriend.

"yea, yea. Tell your boyfriend you're back to work." Minjeong went back to her desk.

"Jimin." Minjeong called her for a hundred times today.

"what?" Jimin sighed.

"I think your hair should be up in a bun. I don't like how it is right now." Minjeong saw strands of hair covering Jimin's face.

"and why should I listen to you?" Jimin ignored her.

"I like my workers to be tidy." Minjeong then walked to her desk. "and I'm your boss. You should listen to me." Minjeong played with her hair, smiling.

"nonsense." Jimin continued with her work.

"buy me a drink. Whatever I don't care." Minjeong then walked out of the office.

Jimin then went to the company's café.

"excuse me. may I ask you something?" Jimin said to the girl on the cashier. "does Ms. Kim have any usual drink?"

"I'm sorry. She always changes her order." The girl said.

"give me what you recommend." Jimin smiled at the girl.

Jimin then checked her phone. She found out that Hansol already outside.

"thank you so much." Jimin said to the girl. She then went back to the office and gathered her things.

"where are you going?" Minjeong came out of nowhere.

"home." Jimin replied plainly.

"who let you?" Minjeong walked closer to her. "I'm not done yet. Stay where you are."

"I can't let you use me like you own me. I'm not supposed to work today. I stayed late just to give you what you want almost every day." Jimin hung her bag on her shoulder. "excuse me."

Minjeong left alone on her office.

'don't act like you own me!'

Minjeong recalled her memory. The words she said to her father.

Jimin sat beside her father who's just got home from work.

"you look exhausted. Are you sure you don't need a day off?" her father asked.

"I'm okay, dad. I want to help you." Jimin supress a smile.

"you worked too hard. I don't want you to get sick."

"I know. I won't be."

Jimin then remembered about the money she received. She decided to send it back to Minjeong.
