It's already the next week and Minjeong did an evening ride to adjust herself.
"be careful. Mark will be here. Is that okay?" Jimin informed.
"sure. Jin is on a date with Lia. He could give you a company." Minjeong then prepared to go to a place that Ryujin sent her.
"okay. I'm being serious right now. don't injure yourself." Jimin put her hand on Minjeong's shoulder.
"don't worry. I'm good at this." Minjeong smiled and ride her bike away.
-
Minjeong came to the familiar place. She remembered she used to race here with Hansol and the others. The same day that Hansol lost his bet on his motorbike.
"Ryujin!" Minjeong called her.
"hey! This is not the whole team, sorry." Ryujin referring to the people behind her.
The guys and some girls welcomed Minjeong nicely.
"it's okay." Minjeong looked around. "I actually know this place."
"it's quite famous. Of course, you know." Ryujin tapped her shoulder and led her to meet some of her friend. "this is Yeji. She'll lead the race."
"hey, Minjeong." Yeji greeted her. "she talks a lot about you. I don't know why."
"she's a great person." Ryujin bragged. "so, we'll start the race. Let's see the other's first."
Minjeong and Ryujin walked to the side of the road. Two people started their bike and hoped on it. Yeji stood between them holding a gun and aimed it upwards.
"you wanna bet?" Ryujin extended her hand. "I'm betting on the guy in red helmet. He's always good."
"sure. I'll go with..." Minjeong scanned both of the racers. The guy with the red helmet looks prepared but the way his bike sounds doesn't add up. Seems like he didn't get his oils changed recently. His tire needs a little more air. "the black one."
"sure, no one really bet on him that much." Ryujin took the money from her.
Yeji pulled the trigger and the racers zoomed away. They all can see some people on the other end of the road cheering. One of them waved a white flag, meaning the race is over.
Minjeong heard people sighing and groaning behind her. Ryujin did too.
"you won. The black guy won." Ryujin gave Minjeong her part. Minjeong refused.
"you should pay attention to their gears. It will help you a lot with the bet." Minjeong smirked at Ryujin.
After a few races, it's time for them to go and race against each other. Many people bet on Ryujin and ignored Minjeong.
"I will go easy on you." Minjeong then put on her helmet.
"oh, please do." Ryujin mocked her and giggled."
Yeji pulled the trigger. Ryujin went full speed on the engine. Minjeong noticed this and keep up with the pace. Minjeong timed her gear shift and not rushing as she sped up more and more towards the end. She also noticed that Ryujin is too impulsive by going full speed in the beginning. Minjeong finally arrived at the finish line.
"nice one on your first race." A boy came and gave her a compliment.
Ryujin groaned and took off her helmet.
"fuck!" Ryujin got angry. "you said you'll go easy on me."
"I did. you pushed yourself too hard." Minjeong just laughed at her. "keep it steady at first. Then, you'll win against me."
They then ride back to the starting place.
"hey." A girl came to Minjeong. "you beat her." she said in a flirty manner.
"I did." Minjeong smirked.
"is that it? You always came to me after every race. You think she's better than me?" Ryujin felt offended.
"chill out, Ryu. She's just talking." Minjeong kept her eyes on Yuna.
"yeah, Ryu. Chill." Yuna copied her.
"ugh... forget it."
-
Minjeong finally came home. She saw Mark is still with Jimin chatting lightly.
"there she is. I'm gonna go." Mark stood up and excused himself. "good night, miss. Jimin." He then left the mansion.
"how's the race? You seem happy." Jimin helped Minjeong with her jacket.
"she's to predictable. I won easily. How's Mark?" Minjeong sat on the couch.
"he asked me to marry him." Jimin sighed. She's not really that happy about it. Sure, they're too close to be just friends in past of few years but Mark never asks her to be his girlfriend. They just went on a 'friendly' dinner according to Jimin.
"do you want to?" Minjeong couldn't help but feel a little intimidated. First Ryujin, now Mark.
"I mean, he's nice. He's also good with work and helped me a lot. I don't know." Jimin looked down.
"that's not a reason." Minjeong then walked upstairs and decided to sleep.
-
Minjeong woke up and prepared to go to the company like the usual. she walked down and found Jimin walking to the door to meet Mark.
"miss." Mark bowed to her. "I'll take her to the company."
"sure." Minjeong then walked past them, went into the car, and told Jin to drive. "I want you to keep your eyes on Mark." Minjeong said on the way.
"is there anything wrong?" Jin looked at her through the rear-view mirror.
"no. just do it." Minjeong replied back.
"okay."
Minjeong arrived first. She didn't mind. She let Jimin do her own thing. Minjeong started working like the usual and didn't bother thinking about Jimin.
