Chapter 13

I'm sorry it took me so long, I've just been ridiculously busy with school. I know it's an excuse a lot of people use and I seriously commend the people who are studying and work yet manage to update every single week because I know for a fact it's damn hard to do. I feel like I know where I want the story to go but I'm just finding it hard to put it into words and it feels like I'm forcing it and I really don't want to do that which is why it's been taking me a while between updates.

The one thing I feel that I'm consistent with is the fact that I always give you guys long chapters compared to most writers. This one was 11 pages on word and it would have been longer but I decided I really had to just post it before you had to wait even longer.

I'm dedicating this chapter to all the lovely people who have voted and commented on both my profile and throughout chapters from the very beginning telling me they love my story and that they want an update. I hope you guys enjoy it :)

Quick recap of characters and such as it's been a while....

AVERY (wolf is AVA), white wolf, almost 18

JAMES (wolf not known yet), white wolf, 19, Delta

Avery was 10, Sebastian was 16 when they're parents were killed by rogues, he left 6 months later to find the killers as that's when Derek and James' parents were killed by the same rogues.

Avery finally saw her brother and very briefly met James but it ended badly as Sebastian didn't know it wasn't her fault. Derek had a meeting with an Alpha from a pack over about strange occurrences with rogues attempting to cross through their land into Derek's. Afterwards Derek met with some of the patrol groups to inform them of new arrangements and a large group of rogues invaded but he singlehandedly killed them all.

AVERY:

I groan as I slowly open my eyes to the harsh sunlight streaming into the room. I blink as my eyes adjust and I remember I'm in Derek's room on the couch again. Why have I been so tired these past few days? Maybe it's because I've always been so used to no sleep and now that I've had some finally I can't seem to get enough. I've just been really exhausted though and no matter how much I sleep I don't feel like it's helped at all.

I feel quite lethargic, something I couldn't afford to feel when I was at my old pack. If I didn't do my chores or what I was told right that very second I was punished. I wrap the blanket tighter around me, inhaling Derek's scent and snuggling into the warmth. I'm not normally this cold either, again maybe it's because I'm not used to having a warm blanket and now that I finally have one I can't seem to get warm enough.

My stomach growls and I smile slightly at the thought of being able to freely eat whenever I'm hungry and not have to count down the hours to my next meal of food scraps. My smile drops though when I remember why I was in here and sleeping in the first place. My brother was here and he is alive. My brother also seems to hate me for reasons I do not know. I recall Derek saying Tommy will be here whilst he's with the visiting Alpha, maybe I can ask him. But if he comes back do I really want to talk to him? He was so angry, so viscous that it really scared me.
