Chapter 18

WHOOOPP WHOOOPPPP!!!! I'M UPDATING!!!!!! I' sorry guys, truly I am. I know in my last authors note I told you I needed to sort out my story line and things and that a chapter was coming really soon but clearly that didn't happen and here we are a few months later and I'm finally giving you the chapter. It's not my favourite and it's not super long like some of my early ones but hey, its a chapter. I feel like I've got a bit more of my groove back and I found it a lot easier to finish this off in the last week or so than when I was first starting to write this chapter. 

That being said I still really do need to plan things out a bit more to make sure there aren't things that I'm missing. For example, I'm pretty sure in my first chapter I said that Avery walked through a creek but then three chapters later I said she was scared of water (ahem plot holes, plot holes everywhere). Or just writing about something and forgetting about it later. Someone asked me how old everyone was and I literally had to skim through every chapter to remember because I didn't write it down somewhere. 

Anyway, I'd like to give a shoutout to @PennameWriter for literally commenting and voting on nearly every chapter. Your comments made my day whenever I saw you had posted one :)

P.S In case you were wondering or have forgotten, the ages are as follows by family:
Avery is 17 (almost 18) and shifted at 16
Sebastian is 24, their parents were killed when avery was 10 and seb was about 16 

 Derek is 23 and shifted at 17 because he took the alpha title when his parents were killed 6 months after seb and averys
James is 19
Kate is 26 

Tommy is 24
Izzy is almost 17

AVERY POV:

I gasp as I hear voices near us, almost leaping in my spot and clutching Derek's arm tighter. I was originally just linking arms with him but as our walk has progressed I've taken to wrapping both my arms around his one. One of my hands is clutching his so tightly I'm sure it's cutting his circulation off but he hasn't complained once. Him and his wolf have been constantly trying to soothe me, sending feelings of calmness through our bond.

"It's okay, you're safe. No one will hurt you"

"I-I know you said they won't hurt me but I'm sorry I just can't help it." I whimper, my face buried in his arm, "I-I'm scared"

"I know you are and it's okay to be, but just know that I won't let anything happen to you. We're almost there now, it's just around the corner. I'm so proud of you sweetheart for making the effort to come outside and walk all this way. The pack is just happy to see you trying for them, they won't hurt you."

He leads us around the corner until we get to a small building. I work out it must be the clinic as he leads us down the side path and around to a back door.

"We're here now, Avery. We shouldn't see anyone in here asides from Liz"

I nod as he leads me through the door and down a hallway to what I'm assuming is an exam room. He knocks and then I hear Liz calling for us to come in.

"Hi Derek, hi Avery. How are you feeling today?"

"I'm good thank you"

"Ok that's great, come in and take a seat"

Derek guides me to sit on a chair next to him whilst Liz takes a seat at her desk.

"Ok so I'm just going to take a little more blood to see how you're progressing, especially since we gave you the transfusion the other night"
