Chapter 10

FINALLY managed to fix the spacing issue and repost this chapter.

Ok I'd like to apologise for taking so long to update but I've been overseas and missed some school which meant I had a lot to catch up on. I also have my exams next week which means I've been studying like crazy. 

Originally this chapter was meant to be really really long but I've had to just post what I have so far (which I know is short) because I felt terrible you were all still waiting and I didnt want to rush it and give you a poorly written chapter. I finish school for the year in another week or so and will have until february to update as much as I can.

Just thought I'd say that because otherwise some of it will be a bit confusing, you'll know what I mean when you come across it

DEREK POV:

Nemo. We are watching finding Nemo. She's practically bouncing up and down in excitement as the movie begins and the title shows up on the screen, with Nemo in really large letters. She leans closer to me as it disappears off the screen, "What's the movie called?"

I frown and I'm about to remind her she saw the cover earlier and the name just showed up on the screen but I stop when I remember she told me she can't read properly. 

"It's called finding Nemo, Nemo is the name of the son"

"Was the bigger word Nemo?"

I nod and she smiles, "I knew that was an N" she says quietly to herself. 

At the happy smile on her face I promise to myself that I'll help her read as much as possible. If just knowing one letter caused that beautiful smile to light up her face then I'll help her learn every letter. Anything to make my mate happy. 

I mind link my Beta, 'Tommy do me a favour and find out everything there is to know about dyslexia'

'Um may I ask why?'

'It's for Avery, just do it' I don't get a reply and I know he's already started doing what I've asked. I can't help her if I don't know what I'm dealing with. 

It breaks my heart to think she wasn't allowed an education when she so clearly wants one, and that she had no one to help her at home. Even seeing her get so excited over something as simple as watching a movie, and a kids one at that, makes me realise how much she's missed out on and how much she doesn't know about the world. And I don't mean things like never having an omelette.

I told her I'd take her shopping, but would she even be able to handle being near so many people? She looked so terrified when I mentioned meeting my cook and housekeepers let alone the rest of the pack. Tommy was right in saying she's scared of her own shadow. My poor mate couldn't even have a bath without having a panic attack. I was ecstatic when she trusted me enough to have one with her despite her fears. I feel like such an idiot, I completely forgot about the pool though. 

She yelps and hides her face behind my arm so she can't see the screen. It's up to the part with the big scary fish that kills marlons wife and all the eggs except for Nemo. She lowers my arm slightly and then drops it completely as the scene finishes. 

"Awww he's so cute!" She squeals when it skips to the present and Nemo is on the screen, "Poor little guy" 

And this is how the whole movie goes. I've never seen someone watch Nemo so intently. She's literally on the edge of her seat and I watch as various emotions flash across her face. Giggling at the little jokes and saying how cute the fishes are in some bits, gasping in shock at others, and then hiding behind my arm at the 'scary bits'. By the end of it Shes been on an emotional journey and I can't help but grin when I ask her if she liked it or not.

She nods  enthusiastically but then her smile dims slightly when she realises she's practically on my lap. She mumbles a sorry and scoots away from me. I lift her chin up so I can see her adorable blush and kiss her nose. "It's fine sweetheart"

'Hey Derek I got heaps of info for you, when do you want to meet up?' Tommy says through our mind link. 

'I don't want to leave her here by herself, come over later and we can talk in my office.' 

'Ok I'll tell you when I'm on my way there. Um Derek I think you're forgetting something'

'What?' I ask confused 

'The Alpha of that other pack is coming tomorrow bright and early'

'Shit' I curse, how could I forget that?

'You either leave her at home or bring her with you'

I groan, 'Tommy she's terrified to meet my fucking housekeeper, how do you think she'll handle meeting another alpha?'

'Then you have to leave her home. Derek you can't not be there and it's way too late to cancel'

'Then what the fuck am I meant to do!?' I growl at him

'I'm pretty sure you don't need all three of us with you, they aren't a powerful pack. You can get me, Bass or your brother to stay with her. Even if she stays in your room at least there's one of us at the house just incase Something happens.'

I really need to appoint guards for her but she's so emotionally unstable and I can't leave her with just any pack wolf. No wolf would intentionally hurt their Luna but if she has another panic attack they'd have no idea what to do and would be too scared to do anything incase their 'vicious' Alpha blamed them for upsetting her. The only three people I would trust looking after her are my Beta, Gamma and Delta. 

I sigh, 'I need you with me, he'd probably bring his Beta too, and I'd rather have my head warrior with me just in case so James has to come.'

'Ok, James and I will come with you, Bass can stay with her.'

'Fuck I just realised I didn't even tell them I found her'

He chuckles, 'I know, i did it for you. They're very happy for you and are dying to meet her.'

'Did you tell them...' I trail off wondering if he explained the condition he found her in. 

He sighs, 'I didn't go into detail but I said she's been hurt very badly and to be patient.'

'Did you tell them her wolf colour?'

'I wasn't sure how your brother would handle knowing there's another white wolf so I didn't say anything to either of them. You can talk to James yourself'

'Ok I'll do that later. I gotta go, I'll speak to you soon.'

I cut off the link and I blink a few times as I come back to reality. I only just realise now that my little mate is still sitting crosslegged facing me patiently waiting and I'm still holding her chin.

Her beautiful big eyes are staring up at me In question. "Were you mind linking with someone?"

"Yeah I was talking to Tommy" I reply distractedly

She looks at me in awe, "So you can hear his thoughts, in your head?"

I'm about to tell her about tomorrow but my mouth snaps shut at her question. I nod slowly and her eyes widen further in excitement. 

"What does it sound like? Is it like he's right next to you? Is it hard to do? How far away can it be? Do you-"

I cut off her endless questions with one of my own, "Why do I get the feeling you've never mind linked with someone?"

She falters and I feel terrible as the gleam in her eyes slowly dims again, "Because I haven't"

"Why not?" 

"I-I wasn't allowed to"

We can mind link from about the age of 12 with other pack members and our family members. Even if they're in a different pack, you can communicate with your immediate family. 

"Not even with your family?"

She sighs sadly, "I don't have any family"

I concentrate on my beautiful mate and send my thoughts to her, 'I'll be your family'

She gasps in shock. Whether it's because of what I just said or because I'm mind linking with her for the first time I don't know. 

"Y-you want to be my family?"

I frown slightly, 'we're mates, we practically are a family now' 

Her eyes glaze over with unshed tears, "I'd like that" she suddenly looks unsure of her self, "would you be able to-I mean if you don't mind-"

I smile as I cut her off, knowing what she's going to ask me, "Yes"

"Really?"

'Of course sweetheart'

The huge grin returns to her face, "please please please can you teach me now?"

"Ok I want you to think of something to say to me..."

She thinks for a moment, "ok got it"

"Now concentrate on me. Think of a link between the two of us. Think of your message travelling along that link until it reaches me and imagine me hearing it"

She frowns as she stares at me intently and then I finally hear her voice in my head, 'Hello'

'Hello to you too'

Her eyes light up like Christmas trees, 'You can hear me?!'

'Yes I can, you're a fast learner. Good job baby girl'

'Thank you thank you thank you!' In her excitement she's pushed aside her insecurities and fears as she leaps into my arms and hugs me tightly. 

'Your welcome Avery'

She shyly pulls away from me after a few more seconds and a pink blush spreads across her cheeks, 'So you'll let me mind link whenever I want?' She asks hopefully 

I pull her back into my arms, 'Of course you'll be allowed to mind link'

I lie down on the couch and bring her down so she's lying on top of me. As I run my hand up and down her back I decide to talk to her about tomorrow. 

"Hey sweetheart?"

"Yeah" she lifts her head off my chest to look up at me. She rests her chin on her hands and looks at me expectantly 

"I forgot about it until Tommy reminded me but tomorrow there will be an Alpha from another pack visiting us"

All the blood drains from her face, "A-an Alpha?"

"Relax baby, you won't have to meet him and he'll be gone by that night. I'm telling you this because I have to meet with him. I don't want to leave you by yourself all day and I didn't think you'd want to meet so many people, especially an Alpha"

"So what do I do whilst you're with him?"

"Well I need my Beta and Delta with me which leaves my Gamma. He'll stay here with you, but don't worry once you meet him if your still not comfortable being around him you can stay upstairs and he can stay downstairs. You'll only see him if you want to or if something happens"
I can see the apprehension on her face.

"I know it's not ideal but trust me when I say I'm compromising. I'd rather appoint 20 of my best fighters as your guards but I know you wouldn't want that. I know you'll be safe with Bass."

She nods slightly but I can tell she isn't happy with the situation. 

"Oh and I almost forgot, Tommy is coming later today to discuss some things with me. We'll just be in my office"

She nods again and I sit up pulling her with me, "Want to watch another movie?"
A smile lights up her face as she climbs off me and rushes over to the DVD's.

Avery and Sebastian finally seeing each other will be in the next chapter. Like i said i will have some time to write in another week or so and Ill make sure its a long chapter for you all!!
