Tash's eyes followed the moon. Ever since she was a child, it has always amazed her how the moon always seems to follow her back. She was feeling kind of nervous but also very calm at the same time. She had gotten the last of her midterms results today. Apart from the A- that fucked with her GPA more than it should, everything else was reason enough to be happy. Tash wasn't a perfect student or anything like that. She was an intelligent girl, but she was no genius. Her grades are a reflection of long hours of hard work. She really did put an effort into studying. A lot of that came from how she was raised. Her parents never got the chance to pursue a higher education and so the goal of their life was to make sure their children were given every chance to get a full education and pursue careers they wanted. Coming from a family of immigrants, every opportunity granted was pursued 100% and with utmost respect. Tash was on a scholarship. It was how she could afford to live in a small apartment by herself. For her first two years of college, she traveled back and forth from her family home to school but the travel itself exhausted her. So, when she discussed with her parents, they decided to get her a small place closer to campus so she could be more comfortable and give her 100% to her final year. If her parents were aware she met a tempting boy who she invited up to her place they might drag her back home.
Tasha is sensible enough to not get distracted from her goals but when she first started spending time with Keva, she worried that it might shift her attention and affect her grades. She now had double to celebrate because she had proved to herself that she could prioritize what's important and keep her focus. It still however felt quite strange because while this was not the first time she had gotten good grades, this time she felt happy. She not only felt happy, she felt full to the brim. Her parents were always pleased with her grades and wished her congratulations. Once, they even said they were proud. But, she never had anyone celebrate with her and made her feel like she had done something worthy. Getting perfect grades was never treated like an achievement, it has always been a responsibility. It was just something that was expected of you.
But here she was in this red monstrosity of a car with this beautiful man's hands on her thigh on their way to celebrate her. It's not a big deal. It's not like she was graduating or anything, but she had mentioned once how she wanted to get her nose pierced but she was afraid. So, when she shared the good news with Keva, he suggested she should go do it as a reward to herself. She asked him if he was crazy because it's really not that big of a deal. But he made her feel like she deserved a reward because he saw first-hand how hard she worked. And so, for the first time in a long time Tasha felt seen by someone other than herself. She draped her hand over Keva's hand and he squeezed her thigh in return.
They pulled up to this place that was on the outskirts of the city. She reluctantly stepped in, almost hiding behind Keva. There was no one inside but there were bright lights everywhere. Suddenly, a man and a woman came out from nowhere and seemed very excited to see Keva.
"Yooo how long has it been man?" the man said.
"Ages" Keva replied.
They all embraced each other as if they were really good friends.
"And here I thought I would never see you in here again," the woman said, smiling at Keva.
"I'm not here for me," Keva said, pulling Tash out from behind him.
"And who do we have here," said the man
The woman immediately smacked him and said, "you talk like she's not right in front of you fool"
The woman stepped forward and shook Tash's hand and introduced herself, "Hi, I'm Mei, and that fool is Sam"
"Hi, I'm Tash."
