It was almost a Winter's night, yet still Tash wanted ice cream. On the way home, they stopped at a Cold Stone only to find her favorite flavor was discontinued after the summer. She then chose Vanilla, which was the safest choice for guaranteed tastiness. Tash and Keva ate their ice cream in the car, with the heat now turned on because she got cold. Keva rolled his eyes at how everything about her was contradictory as he faked enjoying his experimental sherbet flavor.
He tried to propose that they share flavors, but Tash did not fall for it. He sulked for about 5 minutes as she made sure to praise and make appreciative noises of how good the vanilla, he earlier mocked as 'basic' was. He had had enough when he decided he was going to shut her up. He dragged her into a kiss, when they bumped noses. Tash whimpered. The piercing being still too fresh to irritate, Keva sulked even more when he realized none of this was gonna be happening tonight. He then drove them straight to the pharmacy to buy supplies so that she could clean and sterilize the piercing so it could heal faster and easier.
As they were watching a movie, Tash received an email which she recognized was from her English professor as she pulled down the notification on her phone. Mad that he was already sending homework even though they literally just finished midterms she paused the movie to lament.
Keva snatched the phone and put it aside urging her to just leave it for now. She can take a look at it in the morning. It's not like she was gonna stop everything and start now. "Right?" he added. Because knowing Tash, there is about a 70% chance that she would.
When Tash woke up, she found that it was morning and that they had fallen asleep on the couch. Keva had never spent the night over before.
Yes, he stayed over quite late some nights, but he always left. Trying not to put too much stock into this little development, Tash rumbled through her bathroom press looking for an extra toothbrush. She knew if she couldn't find one, he would suggest something as ridiculous as using hers and she could not have that.
Keva woke to find a new toothbrush waiting for him. But he was more interested in finding some breakfast than anything else. Because Tash never really ate breakfast at home, she didn't really have any kind of food suitable for that particular meal.
The sun shone quite brightly yet it was a cold Saturday morning. The cold front of the wind and the bright light of the sun was enough to wake them both up completely as they decided to walk over to the coffee shop to get some breakfast.
Since it was a Saturday morning, the line was not as long as it would be on a normal school day. The two stood in line and giggled and mocked each other about how lame their interactions in here were, when they met for the first time. As they waited for their breakfast sandwiches to be made, Tash suddenly remembered the email from last night.
"Goo?"
Tash turned around and caught sight of a familiar face.
"Laryn?" Keva replied.
Ah! It was that professor from the Literary Arts department.
Thankfully Tash had pulled on the hood of her coat because of the wind outside and so she quickly turned back around hoping the professor hadn't seen too much of her face.
"How come you're here now? You don't usually teach on the weekends." Keva inquired.
"Yeah, but I have to go in the office this weekend. Got some extra work to do," the professor replied.
Tash kept an ear on the conversation hoping everyone would just ignore she was standing there. So far, so good. It would maybe help if she appeared to be quite engrossed in something else. Tash was never so excited to be reading a school email as she was now.
'Dear class,
This is Professor Sargeant from your Romance and Renaissance Literature class. Unfortunately, I have some not so good news. My mother has fallen quite ill, and I have come to the decision after much contemplation, that it would be best for me and my family if I moved back to Colorado to be with them at this time. I know this is quite the shift since we are already more than halfway through the semester with each other. I urge you to not get too worried. The department and I have worked out quite favorable terms for after my departure. First, you do not have to worry about your final paper changing. I know many of you have already started working on it and so I have discussed with your new professor, and we decided that your final will remain the same. Professor Laryn Lon is quite capable, and I know you will treat her with the same respect you did me. It has been a pleasure working with each of you. All the best.
Sincerely,
S. Micael.'
"Okay. I'll see you around," Keva's voice refocused Tash back to this plane.
She turned around to see the professor walking out the shop.
"You ready?" Keva smiled at Tash.
"...yeah" Tash replied.
Tash, "What did you say her name was? The teacher?"
Keva, "Laryn"
Tash, "Laryn Lon?"
Tash could not help but break into random bursts of laughter as she spent the rest of the weekend outlining her final paper.
