Sun stung the young boy's emerald eyes, filling them with golden sparkles as they fluttered open to meet the vibrant morning.

This is it. Today was the day.

It was his mother's 45th birthday.

Practically jumping out of bed, he hurried on a pair of nice clothes and attempted to tame his hair, trying to keep quiet and not wake his mother the whole way through.

Sneaking into the kitchen, he began grabbing beautiful, fresh vegetables and a carton of the tastiest eggs, each one a different color than the others, with the richest amber yolks you've ever tasted. The ingredients for an omelette.

Their past weekend's trip to the local farmer's market was proving an amazing asset at the moment.

Though, he immediately put the eggs back, since making them now would allow the omelette to get cold before serving and he had other stuff to make.

Instead, he diced the veggies and shredded some cheese in preparation. He planned out a full bed in breakfast, consisting of a cheese and vegetable omelette, blueberry Belgian waffles and a sort of mimosa mocktail.

He did admit he was going to cheat a bit and use a mix...BUT... it was a homemade mix from a few days ago, so is it really cheating? Immediately, he regretted putting those eggs away, as he currently needed them in the waffle mix.

Attempting to be as quiet as humanly possible, Izuku tossed a carton of blueberries in the batter, his attention split as the waffle iron gave a screech for attention. For as loud and inconvenient as it was being the waffle iron was perfectly timed with the batter's completion.

"ShsshshhshshshshshshshShutup!!!" He whisper-yelled at the cooking instrument, despite knowing it his frantic shushing would do nothing to make the beeping stop immediately. In all honesty, it was quite a funny sight.

Moving past the rude disruption of the waffle maker, he grabbed an already dirty measuring cup and scooped some batter into the steaming iron, quickly closing it as the batter and berries began to sizzle.

The smell was incredible, warm fresh waffles, the delicious sour yet sweet, fruity scent of blueberries wafting in the sun-filled morning air. While the first waffle cooked he got to work packing the dishwasher with a boatload of dirty dishes.

In around fifteen minutes a warm, delicious smelling plate of waffles sat steaming on the counter while a whirring hand mixer fluffed up a bowl of fresh whipped cream. Once the whipped cream was ready he stacked two quarters of waffle on a small plate with a dollop of whipped cream and some fresh blueberries, topped off with a warm spoonful of blueberry syrup.

Not to brag, but these were the best waffles he'd ever seen.

With the waffles done, he got to work right away on the omelette, hustling as time began to catch up. Soon enough, breakfast was ready, plated on a tray he found in the back of a cabinet. With the rising sun hot on his tail, he kinda gave up on the mock-tail thing and just poured some orange juice in a nice glass, topping off the surprise breakfast with the perfect citrusy addition. Adding a final touch, the freckled boy put a small stalk of wisteria, trimmed from the vine climbing their house, along the edge of the tray, ready to serve.

Carefully picking up the tray, he shuffled quietly to his mother's room, giving a soft knock before entering.

Inko gave a yawn, propping herself up on her elbows to see what her awakening was about.

"Good mornin' mami, happy birthday!" Placing the tray on her nightstand, he pressed a gentle kiss on her forehead, grinning at the smaller smile crossing her lips. "I made you breakfast."

"Aww, thank you honey!" Cupping her hand around her face she looked lovingly into at her child's eyes, he really was the sweetest boy in the world.

"Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear mami–i, happy birthday to you," he sang softly, placing the tray in her lap and taking a seat on the edge of her bed.

"Baby, you're too precious,"

They sat and chatted while she ate, truly just relaxing. Opening the windows they let the crisp morning breeze flow through, beaming from ear to ear the boy and his mother took their time enjoying the morning, just celebrating the woman who worked so hard to make their lives as beautiful and comfortable as she possibly could.

Aoyama was taking the morning shifts, so they had extra time to chill out before work. Eventually though, they made their was to the shop, coming in around nine to take the load off his back, at least for now. It wasn't going to be a long day, the Midoriyas, Aoyama and Ochako, we're going out to lunch as a group celebration.

Customers flowed in and out as usual, coffee after coffee, the usual, except this time with the ease of ending at 12:30 instead of their normal 5pm.
Finishing an order, the three in the café began to clean and lock up, hyping the birthday lady up for her lunch-party.

The restaurant was only a block away so they planned on walking, although there was a part of the plan Inko wasn't in on. Halfway there her son stopped walking, announcing that he'd forgotten something and would be meet them there, hurrying off to grab whatever it was.

That was all a ruse, he was actually going to get her flowers, for later... and he knew exactly where to get them. 'Cause she deserves nice flowers.

Ducking into Ginger Blossom, he made haste giving an order, taking a bit of extra time to tease the florist with his oddly hilarious embarrassment over personal space.

It only took a few minutes, agreeing to pickup sometime around 5 and soon enough he was jogging back the two blocks to the restaurant.

Awaiting for him at an outdoor table sat the group, along with Ochako's girlfriend, Tsu who'd decided to join since she was still on sick leave but was feeling well enough to join for just a bit. He gave a wave darting around some shrubbery separating the restaurant patio from the busy sidewalk, and took the last empty chair beside his mother.

Lunch was amazing, the group had a wonderful time and ended up staying for three and a half hours, until around 4:15 when the sun began to hang low in the sky, pouring its golden light over the city's streets. They walked home alongside Aoyama who lived around the same area, parting ways a couple streets before their own home.

The two stopped by the florists on the way home picking up the bouquet, a treat that Inko adored, Izuku led his mother to their house, offering his arm very gentlemanly, a gesture that made his mother laugh, somehow surprised that she would be treated like the queen she is.

Both still full from the lunch, that had extended into dinner territory, opted out of dinner, instead, settled down for the night, getting ready to watch a birthday movie.

Tonight's movie of choice was blades of glory.

(Perhaps that movie is nine-year-old-me's entire inspiration to become the figure skater that I am currently but you have no proof for that)

Izuku made popcorn and brought a ton of blankets out from his room to snuggle up from the evening's chill. The two curled up infront of the tv binging the night away, until the both of them were lulled to sleep...
