10: Cheesesteaks and Older Sisters

VANESSA'S POV

"Michael." I say expectantly, "Are you going to pick me up and throw me in the water or what?" I ask trying to sound cheerful. He turns around rolling his eyes at me.

"No, I'm not." He responds in a slightly icy tone. Is he kidding? We're the only two people here that are actually in a relationship, and he won't even treat me like his girlfriend.

"And why not?" I retaliated coldly, putting my hand on my hip.

"Because if I did, you would've complained for the rest of the day about how it messed up your hair, your make-up and gotten your clothes wet." He snapped back. I was a little taken aback, and before I could open my mouth again, he turned on his heal and ran down to the water to join his lame friends. With a huff I trudged up to the grass, found a picnic table and got out my phone to text my real friends.

ZOE'S POV

Being thrown into the water as soon as we got to the beach, was not one of my plans. But, getting thrown into the water by Calum as soon as we got to the beach didn't bother me one bit. After getting over the initial shock of having someone pick me up, I couldn't stop myself from laughing. Once I'd resurfaced, I heard Ashton yell something in Luke and Jade's direction, so naturally I looked. And there they were, being all cute and adorable, again, and before any of us knew it, they were kissing. We were all cheering and clapping and to be honest, I was proud of Jade, I'm not even entirely sure why... When they broke apart I yelled out 'I ship it!' And coincidentally, Calum did as well.

"Says you!" Jade yelled back, making me want to dive back under the water to hide the embarrassed look on my face. Instead, I was surprised when Calum replied to her.

"What are you talking about Atkins?" He asked sarcastically, then proceeded to push me over and under the water, yet again. This time, I was going to get revenge. I stayed under the water for longer than he'd expect, with my eyes open under the water. I know it sounds unsafe, but I'm used to it. Since we'd gradually moved out deeper, the water was just past Calum's waist, meaning I could lie on the sand out of his reach. I saw his hands searching through the water. When they found my shoulders he pulled me back up to the surface. Now, because I was still getting him back, I coughed and spluttered a bit to make it seem like I was actually in trouble down there. Once I was sure I had made a big enough scene, I was about to hug him but of course, I pushed him back instead. I turned to face my friends and took a bow.

"End, scene." I giggled as they all laughed at me and applauded.

"Hey guys, are those storm clouds?" Jade asked worriedly, pointing at the sky in the distance. Sure enough, I could faintly see a grey patch of sky, still pretty far away from us.

"Yeah they are. We should probably grab our boards before it starts to rain." Bree responds making her way up to the sand.

"Yay! Surfing!!!" I shout excitedly chasing after her to get my board.

ASHTON'S POV

Us four boys sat cross-legged on the sand, creating a curious audience for the oncoming show. Jade, Zoe and Bree were currently paddling out. You could tell that they felt comfortable and at home in the surf, completely fearless. You could see all three of their smiles from here, eager to ride their first wave.

"Woo! Go Jadey!" Luke shouts. Jade looks over her shoulder, only to flip him the bird before continuing to paddle to her first wave.

"Dude, don't break her concentration" I punch him playfully in the shoulder. He just shakes his head at me before returning his attention back on the girls. Bree found a wave before Jade and Zoe, taking the drop without losing her balance. All of us cheer as she stays steady on her board, starting to perform some complicated tricks. She finishes off with a snap off the lip then dives into the water for a clean finish.
