The next day wasn't better for Kie. There was still no sign of JJ and it was getting harder and harder for her to suck it up an go apologize as the time passed. Pogues were planning on taking Twinkie to Charleston to meet Carla Limbrey and talk about their plan. But it didn't feel right to do it without JJ, they haven't even tell him about the plan yet. Everyone knew the reason he wasn't coming over was Kie, even Kie knew that. But she didn't know what to do about it.

"Are we leaving then?" Sarah asked.

"Nah, it doesn't feel right to go without JJ." Pope said trying not to make eye contact with Kie.

"He would literally kill us." John B said. "Plus, a plan is never really complete without his reckless additions." Pope approved by pointing at him.

"So we'll wait." Cleo said. "But how long? You know guys I have to move on with my life after getting the gold."

"What?" Pope said jokingly shocked. "Are you not comfortable with the life you have with us."

"Ahh..." Cleo said. "You guys are sweet but I'm a little too young to retire."

"Think about that again once we get the gold." John B said smiling.

"Well we gotta start doing something to get the gold man." Cleo said, intentionally turning to Kie.

"What?" Kie said. "Sun's almost down, we're not going anywhere today anyways."

"Do you think maybe you should be going somewhere?" Sarah asked and immediately regretted asking when she saw the look on Kie's face.

"Look." Kie said, talking to everyone. "I'll do what I'll do, when I feel like it. It's not my fault that JJ's acting like a little kid and avoiding you guys out of his grudge against me."

"Do whatever you want, Kie. I'm done with you guys..." John B said.

"Seriously..." Pope said looking at Kie, feeling tired. It wasn't their responsibility to fix what was wrong between JJ and Kie. If they could stop being so stubborn, it wasn't even a big deal.

"Fine." Kie said. "I'll go. But not because you guys told me to."

"Whatever suits you." Sarah said. Kie gave one last look to each of them and walked away kind of  halfheartedly. It wasn't that she didn't want to speak to JJ, she really wanted to make things fine, it was just that she was scared. She was scared that after everything JJ wouldn't want to listen to her, she was scared that things wouldn't be the same. It was hurting her physically to think about not being able to mess around with JJ, to understand his thought just by one look, to feel his warmth and to be the reason of his genuine smiles. She was afraid they were at a point where things couldn't go back to the way they were. Because everything she did, she did to prevent that. She did everything not to lose what they had.

She walked to JJ's place slowly, thinking about what she would say, trying to guess how JJ would react. There were some unpleasant possibilities in her mind but she was trying to convince herself everything would be fine. It was JJ, he couldn't stand seeing Kie all upset and regretful, right?

When she made it to his place, there were no sign of JJ. The doors were closed and his bike was gone. She wasn't sure if she wanted to wait, she didn't want to see him coming home with Val on his side. She decided to call, but JJ didn't answer. Just when she decided to leave, her phone rang.

"Yo, Princess! What's going on?" JJ shouted as soon as she picked up.

"Are you drunk, JJ? Seriously?"

"Shhh, of course not! It'd take more than a couple shots to bring me down." He was somewhere loud, there were music and sounds of other people coming from the phone.
