So, for the ones who decided to skip the last part: it's all good now! They're going back home with The Cross, everyone's safe, and Pope is okay with the whole JJ/Kie thing now. That's all you need to know i guess. Enjoy :)
———————————————-The weather was chilly, unlike usual, but it was a pleasant surprise. The pogues were standing by the jet on the airfield, waiting for John B to run home and get Twinkie. He didn't take long, and all of them rushed to place the cross in the van, thankful for the weather once again, they weren't all beaten up even if it was still day time.
The flight had been short and uneventful, and they were finally home. What would their life turn to be, from this moment, since they were back home but not as the same people? What would this do to their lives, this fortune which they've risked their lives to get? Maybe they didn't want anything to change, maybe they just wanted to stay on that airfield forever, taking in that feeling of victory side by side, but it was impossible. Everything was about to change.
They made it to the Château, got off the van and looked at the house, the garden. Home, they thought, it had been weeks since they were any place this familiar, this safe.
"Holy shit..." Sarah whispered. "We have some serious cleaning to do."
John B chuckled, nothing could make him feel bad at that moment, even the idea of cleaning. He wrapped his arm around Sarah's waist and pulled her closer.
"You're already repelled by the old dirty pogue life?" he asked.
"Well..." Sarah chuckled. "I don't see the point of putting up with living in dirt when I already got into your pants."
"Fair enough." John B chuckled back, then faced the others. "Are you ready for the mess, folks?"
"As excited as I am... I need to go see pops first, you know." Pope said, he really couldn't wait to see his father, and he had no problem with rushing it a little more to get himself out of cleaning.
"And I need to see my parents." Kie said, faking a frown. "They must be freaking out."
"You can't go alone, obviously." JJ caught in, taking the opportunity to bail on cleaning. He knew what a mess the château was. "I'll tag along."
"And I..." Cleo started, then she rolled her eyes and gave up. "Fine. I can't think of anything. I'll stay."
So JJ, Kie and Pope took off with the van, taking to cross with them. It was going where it belonged, to it's rightful owners, the Heyward family. Pope was on the back, stretching his body to talk to JJ who was driving, and Kie sitting beside him.
"How weird it is right now, right?" Pope asked, eyeing both of them. "It's as if everything is the same as before, when we sure know almost nothing is the same."
"I'd say it's good weird." JJ said. "We've been struggling to get it all right for a long while, and now it's like everything clicks."
"Exactly." Pope said, pushing Kie from her shoulder softly. "What do you say, Kie?"
"I'm still trying to understand..." Kie said smiling at Pope. "How the hell did you come to your senses? Not that I'm complaining..."
"You know, I'm trying to understand too." Pope answered. "I was an idiot, obviously, but how did I start to see things differently? I guess I was just feeling betrayal, I was feeling like you were making a fool of me. But John B convinced me to man up and deal with my ego, i guess."
"Sorry we chickened out and didn't tell you sooner." JJ said without looking away from the road.
"Could avoid a lot of bullshit, of course." Pope said. "But it turned out fine, right? I'm not gonna be a dick about it, and you're not gonna complicate things any further as a couple."
