Chapter 21

Present Day:

So much for spending the weekend with Cole. Cole spent the whole weekend away in his office working on some big presentation he has on Monday, some of his major clients are flying in from New York and he has to wow them "Gosh, I had a boring weekend" I groan "What happened?" Nancy asks me. We are both chilling in the common room at work drinking coffee, I have only three more venues to book for Marshall, and then I'm done "Cole worked all weekend on his Powerpoint presentation and I have been working all weekend getting Marshall booked, I only have three venues left" I tell Nancy "You work quick" Her eyes widen "Well what can I say, having your job threatened really makes you work quicker" I roll my eyes "How was your weekend?" I ask her

"I didn't do much besides arguing with Chase about being such a bastard, taking care of Kristy and Phillip being absolutely restless because of Chase's attitude, Candice being Candice finding everything funny, and Laila, well, she is so quiet" I bite my bottom lip to keep myself from laughing "Go on, laugh, you and Candice would get along well" Nancy glares at me and I start to laugh "Chase is giving you a hard time" I stop laughing "He takes after his daddy, Derek was like that, he was rebellious as a teenager" She sighs "He did calm down a lot when Kristy was around" I gesture with her finger to come closer "What?" Nancy asks me confused "Kristy has a crush on Chase" I tell Nancy "I kinda knew already, it's not hard to tell, Chase always calms down when he is around her" I giggle at what Nancy says

Andre walks over to our table "Miss Vanderwall, can I see you for a second please?" I look nervous at Dre who keeps a solid look "Umm.... sure" I look back at Nancy "I'll be right back" Nancy nods and I get up. I follow Dre to his office and shut the door behind me. Dre sits down at his desk "You needed to see me" I announce my presence and he looks up at me as I stand awkwardly. For the first time in a while, I see a small smile spread across his face "You have been doing very well with booking Em at the venues, I'm impressed" I nod "Thank you" I smile at him "Before you go, can you get all three venues booked by the end of the day?" He asks me "Yes I can" I nod "Great, you can get to work now" Dre looks back down at his computer and I leave.

I get Marshall booked to two venues and now I only have one left, as I'm working to get his last venue booked for the Up In Smoke Tour I get a message from Cole "Baby, I'm so sorry for a crappy weekend, please forgive me" I roll my eyes at the text "Omg! forgive you? if you knew you would be THIS busy why did you invite me to spend the weekend with you?" I text him "Because I wanted my girl with me, I was getting so bored and lonely without you" I yet again roll my eyes at the text "Well look how the tables have turned because during the WHOLE WEEKEND I was "bored" and "lonely"" I text him "I'm sorry" I shake my head "Whatever" I don't hear back from him.

I knew that dating an accountant was hard but I didn't imagine it to be this difficult. He is always busy and sometimes I go days without hearing from him and he always apologizes for his absence, I always reply with "I understand" because I truly have nothing to say to him and then he senses my disappointment and calls me up to have a discussion with me about why he didn't have the time to chat with me.

Since I'm going to Detroit again I might as well ask if Kristy cares to join me for Naomi's birthday. I pack up my stuff and head home after my day of work, I finally got him booked to all the venues. I see Dre approach me as I'm heading to the elevator "You coming with us to his Up In Smoke Tour?" He asks me "I still need to think about it" I tell him "Take your time, I just asked to be sure" Dre says with a small smile and a nod "I'll think about it but most likely I'll say no" I tell Dre as I now cross my arms "Why?" He furrows his brows "Is it about Em?" He asks me and I nod "We don't get along so it wouldn't be a good idea for me to come as it's only gonna create bad vibes" I sigh "You get along well with the others, why you care what he has to say?" Dre asks me "Because he always gets under my skin" I explain to him "I'mma say this as your friend but fuck him, come on tour and if he decides to give you shit I take care of him" Dre says sternly "That is very kind of you but I still need to think this through" I tell him "As I said; take your time, have a good night, Amanda" Dre smiles at me "You too" I smile at him.

I leave the building and head home. When I get home I find my sister on the couch with a bowl of almost empty butter-flavored popcorn watching a movie "Didn't save some for me?" I chuckle "I was hungry" Kristy says still having her eyes glued to the TV, I plop down next to her and she passes me the bowl of popcorn, I grab a handful "What you watching?" I ask her "No clue, I was surfing the channels and found this movie, it's some chick flick, pretty boring" I furrow my brows "If it's boring, why are you watching it?" I ask her and she groans "Because there is nothing interesting to watch" She says "You know we have a case full of DVDs right" I giggle "I couldn't be bothered" Kristy says with a mouthful "You know I was never this lazy as you are when I was your age" She shoots me a dirty look "Did I ask? No" Kristy shakes her head and I roll my eyes

"So I have a question for you" Kristy looks at me "What's up?" Kristy asks me "Shanice's throwing a birthday party for Naomi on Saturday, would you like to come with me to Detroit?" I ask her "I haven't seen Naomi for a while so I might as well" Kristy nods "Marshall will be there" She glares at me "Oh great" She rolls her eyes "He better stay the hell away from us if he wants to live another day" She hates him so much "I told Marshall that and he's on board with the idea" I tell Kristy "Good" Well that wasn't so hard, I thought I would have to convince her to come to Detroit with me.
