I lean back into the sofa and take a sip of my whiskey as I watch my brother nervously go over his vows.

He mutters the words under his breath as he frantically paces back and forth. He runs his fingers through his hair an pulls the piece of paper that has his vows on it out of his pocket.

"Who the fuck decided it was a good idea to have these memorized and say them in front of other people?" He questions frustratedly.

"Nik, calm down." I place my whiskey glass on the coaster, that sits on the small table next to the couch.

"Do you think it's okay if we do our vows privately?"

God, I've never seen my brother this nervous before

"That's perfectly fine." I place my hand on his shoulder as an act of reassurance. "Would you like me to go ask Priya?"

"Please." He nods his head.

I walk towards the door but as I go to open it Benny swings it open.

"Where were you?" Nik asks.

"Just checking in with Priya." He closes the door behind him.

"Why?"

"Just wanted to make sure she didn't bail." He shrugs like he's talking about something he does everyday.

"What!" Nik stalks towards him, "why the fuck would you do that. You're just putting ideas in her head."

"Nik—"

"I mean I am a fucking mafia boss! What if she gets in her head and decides she doesn't want to be a part of this life?"

"Nikolai, shut the fuck up." I groan. "Priya and you have been together for a year. Trust me if she wanted to leave you and this life she would have left a long time ago. She loves you, you have nothing to worry about."

He sighs and nods his head, "I guess."

"Now I'm going to go and talk to her about the vows."

"Okay." He nods, "hey Benny, did you get a chance to meet Calithea?"

"Um, no." He shakes his head, "but to be fair I got kicked out of there pretty quickly." He picks up my almost empty whisky glass and tosses the rest of it back.

"What the fuck, Benny." I glare at him.

"Oh sorry." He holds the empty glass out to me.

"I don't want it. It's got all of your disgusting germs all over it." I physically shiver at the thought of all the germs. Especially Bennys. Who knows what kind of diseases he has.

I exit the room and walk around the corner and down the hall to the last door on the second floor.

I knock lightly on the door and wait for the okay to enter. A soft "come in" is heard from the other side of the French doors.
