I hand the microphone off to Priyas sisters as I finish my maid of honor speech. The guests clap as I walk back to my seat.
My speech consisted of very little, considering I didn't know much about Nikolai or their relationship, besides what I was told over the phone. Nevertheless, everyone seemed to enjoy it and I am proud to say I even got a few laughs at my attempts at jokes.
I pick Asteria up from my seat and sit down, situating her on my lap. She rests her head on my chest and plays with my necklace as I listen to the rest of the speeches.
Asteria is already extremely tired so I'm afraid I probably won't be able to stay the whole wedding. I rock her back and forth in my lap and twirl one of her curls between my pointer finger and thumb.
She falls asleep in my lap and stays asleep for only fifteen minutes while I converse with the others at the table.
Apparently that small fifteen minute nap, was enough for Asteria because one minute she is sound asleep and the next she is dragging me onto the dance floor.
I laugh at her as she holds onto me and weaves us between the people who currently occupy the dance floor.
She stops and turns to face me, a faint smile on her face. She places her arms around my waist, and her feet on top of mine.
She stares up at me through her long lashes as we sway to the song.
"Have I told you how much you look like a princess today?" I lift her up in the air and spin her around, her giggles make my heart warm.
No matter the circumstances that I went through with being pregnant with her, I wouldn't change a thing. She truly is the light of my life, and the best thing to ever happen to me.
"I a pretty princess." She grins up at me and jumps up and down on her toes.
"The prettiest." I grab her hand and twirl her around.
When the song is finished, Priya comes over and joins us. The two of us talk while we dance around with Asteria.
"Pumpkin, I have someone who I want you to meet." Priya crouches down so she is eye level with Asteria.
"Who." Asteria rubs her eye and tilts her head to the side.
"My sister in law has a son your age, and he is the only other kid here so I thought it might be fun for you to play with him."
"Okay!" Asteria squeals, "mommy? Can I go?"
"Go ahead sweetheart." I nod and watch as she grabs Priyas hand and they walk away.
