"Thank you so much, Kennedy

"Thank you so much, Kennedy." I smile brightly as I pull her in for a hug.

She just got finished giving me a tour of a building and it was perfect. From the cost to the space I was in love.

I blinked away my tears, I had just signed the papers and bought my dream space. Everything I have worked for in my life has led up to this moment.

I was abandoned by my parents and left to figure everything out, not just for myself, but for my child. I went through birth alone and when the medical bills came I could barely afford baby formula.

Everyday that Asteria was in my stomach I promised her that she would have the most amazing life, and that I would be the best mom for her.

The first six months after Asteria was born all I had in our tiny apartment was a thin mattress on the floor and her crib.

And then a month later Charlie moved in next door and took in the sight of a struggling mother holding her sick child as she cried because she couldn't afford to take her to the doctors.

He introduced himself and spent his first night in his new apartment helping me. The next day he payed for her doctors appointment and that night he let
Asteria help him make cookies.

I said goodbye to Kennedy and thanked her again for all her help. I walked over to where Asteria patiently sat on the steps of my new place. She had her book of constellations out and was trying to read it out loud.

"I almost named you after that constellation." I pointed to the current constellation on her page.

"Ca-ri-na." She sounded out, "Carina!"

"Good job, Moró." I pulled her into my side.

"What does it mean?" She looked up at me with her big doe eyes.

"It wasn't so much the meaning that made me want to name you after it. It was because it was the second brightest star in the sky, and it was also the name of your great grandmother, who died before you were born."

We sat there for a few for minutes, flipping through the book before I stood up and held my hand out to her, "now, I have a surprise for you."

She grips my hand and jumps up, "a surprise!" I nod my head, "what is it?"

"You'll have to wait and see, but I figured you deserved it after being so good at all the tours this week." I led her to my car and buckled her into her car seat.

It has been four days since I left the house and started staying at a motel nearby. Unfortunately, no matter how I feel I know I need to continue staying at the house for a little longer, just until I get out of the opening part of my business and actually start making money. But that is going to be a while.

Now that I have finally found my space it is time to find contractors to help me add in shelves and a bathroom, as well as whatever else I need.
