"Are you sure about this? I mean if you're not comfortable you could just drop me--" His amused chuckle was what stopped short her word vomit

Her lower lip subconsciously tucked itself between her teeth, she glanced at him swiftly. She wiped her palms by the edge of her Hijab that seems to have gotten sweaty over the second, she couldn't exactly pin point why she was all nervy and sweaty in the first place

"Ummulkhair" He called, she clenched her eyes shut. Damn it! Why does his deep, silky voice and the way her name sounds on his lips has to have an enormous effect on her? Why won't he just call her Khairi? Sure, if he knows what that Ummulkhair do to her he won't really keep on calling her that "I am perfectly fine with you tagging along. And to tell you the truth, your presence is something I yearn for at the moment"

Khairi heaved a sigh, untangling her fingers that she'd been fidgeting with "May Allah SWT amicably settle between your parents" She prayed, not knowing what else to do in the situation "Can I offer something?"

He nodded, taking a left turn as he steered the wheel. From the looks of it, his house was not that far from the hospital. The two were both located in Bompai, just a few miles apart from each other

"If you have the time, and you're willing, you can just recite Al-Adalu; name of Allah maybe a hundred times or a thousand. Do it with the will of settling matters between them, and then pray afterwards" She spoke in a soft voice, remembering when she learned the ninety nine names of Allah, their meaning and their significance

His eyes flitted to her and roamed all over her face, then turned his attention back to the road ahead "InshaAllah I'll do all I can, Thank you"

She nodded

As the car came to a halt before a large flat duplex building, he faced her "Since I'll be taking you back later, better I park the car here"

Khairi nodded again in understanding and when he gave her a look that spoke in volumes, asking her if she'd be okay by just sitting tight in the car "I'll be fine here, just roll down the windows for me"

He did just that and as he removed the car key and pocketed it, he looked at her one last time then walked through the gates of the house. A while later, and she was bored. Why was this a good idea again? She asked herself, that's because it was never a good idea in the first place

The door that was just attached to the gate of the house screeched loudly, and that got her attention. It was Ami, his younger sister and she was coming towards the car. She opened the door to the driver's seat and briskly sat down

Her face looked sullen and a frown was etched upon her face and what Khairi hated the most was seeing Ami like this, it tugged the strings of her heart

Khairi pursed her lips, thinking of ways to make her feel better. They may have met only once, but she really liked the girl and she hated seeing her in a sour mood. Khairi reached out and interwove their fingers "You want to talk?" She smiled faintly

Ami shook her head, frowning "Not really, to be honest" Khairi gave her hand a gentle squeeze "I totally understand"

A moment of silence passed between the two of them, she spoke "Can I tell you something?"

"Sure" She answered, looking at her with curiosity in her eyes "It's embarrassing so don't laugh"

Khairi gave a short silence and then blurted out, "There was this one time, I had a very hard crush on this guy in my area and I will always pass by his house just so I can catch a glimpse of him. Then one day, I was coming back from markade and I was passing by his house. Fortunately for me I spotted him, he was with his friends though but I still wanted to see him
I walked languidly pretending like I didn't acknowledge them but in the blink of an eye everything had turned around. I didn't realize I was gawking at him so hard that I tripped over a rock and fell. The bucket of grinded vegetables I was carrying was now on the floor and a dog was chasing after me. I ran for my life that day and they laughed their asses off, my crush and his friends"
