It all happened so fast. First she was sitted on the floor, laughing, chatting and watching a movie with Ami and before she knew it things had gone haywire. There was a knock on the door and Ami opened it, it was their mother. It took less than a minute, Khairi couldn't even pinpoint to how it started, or how it happened but before she could register all of it, Ami's mother was screaming and throwing curses all over the place. And even before she could blink, her luggage was out and on the floor of the living room with all of her little belongings all over the floor.

For Khairi, time froze and everything around her seems to be in a blur. She couldn't utter a single word until she found Doc standing before her, taking a protective stance like he would shield her against all of the wrath of his mother

"You think I would not find out koh? You've brought a wretched girl to stay with you, in our home Dahiru?! You brought your prostitute?!" She slowly clapped, shaking her head as if she could not believe her eyes. Khairi felt her breath hitched in her throat, and it clogged with a lump of tears. For the first time since his mother started throwing her words, it was this particular word that hurt her the most. It felt like her chest had been stabbed with a sword, multiple times

"Subhanallah, Audubillah Mummy!" His voice raised an octave "Innalillahi Wa inna ilaihi rajiun" He muttered the last part to himself. Khairi could see how he was trying to the best of his ability to remain calm, but the anger was evident. She could tell by the crease on his brows and the look in his eyes

"See Dahiru" She pointed an accusing finger at him, snapping it countless of times "You can spend all day standing there and saying supplications for all I care, but this girl will leave this house right this Instant!" And with that she walked away, leaving the three of them standing there, all too stunned to move

Doc turned to look at Khairi, his face giving out a mixture of anger and commiseration. But as for Khairi, she just stood there, glued to her spot. Her eyes flitting back and forth towards the clothes that were on floor. She felt her cheeks flaming with heat, it was beyond humiliating
All of the little belongings that Doc had bought her where there, lying on the tiled floor. Literally everything, the abayas, veils, hijabs, and even the bras and panties

Khairi didn't know how to act or what to say. It was a mistake, she shouldn't have followed him here, she shouldn't have let him talk her into it, she'd been so skeptical about it because she didn't want things to go wrong. Finally, a reaction out of her as hot tears stinged her eyes and a sob escaped her

She watched with teary eyes as Doc turned to Ami and whispered something to her, and she immediately walked out leaving the two to themselves. Doc crouched down to his knees, picked each and every one of the pieces of clothing that was on floor, folded them and placed them neatly back in the luggage. He zipped it and turned back to look at Khairi "Ummulkhair" He called, snapping her out of her long and heavy string of thoughts. He handed her a Hijab, which he must've picked from the clothes in the luggage

Khairi, still in a daze, hesitantly reached out and collected the hijab then slipped it over her head. She sniffed, wiping away the tears that were running down her cheeks "Doc...I..."

He caught her breath, "Ummulkhair, don't say a word please, just follow me" The plea in a his voice made her to clamp her mouth back shut and follow him. Her feet accelerated as she followed his tracks until it let her to his car outside the compound. He opened it and occupied the drivers seat as she, on the other hand occupied the passenger seat

A staggered breath escaped him, and he sucked a few gulps of deep breaths. His lips were moving and it looked like he was muttering a few supplications to keep his anger in check. Khairi felt like she was still to stunned to speak, and so she kept mute
