Maya's POV
I find my way out of the Miller's and into an unfamiliar area. I have never been to this area and I only recall a few of the buildings I came past when I was escaping from Jeff's men. I wonder what happened to him. A sudden memory flashes through my mind.
"What he did, he surely shall pay." What the heck? That pretty much sounded like Larry but I doubt he knows of what happened to Camaya and I haven't seen him in a while. The road seems so quiet and for some reason I feel a presence behind me. The hair at the back of my neck rises out of instinct and I look back just to make sure but no one's there. The place is empty but that feeling doesn't stop. I pick up my pace and work faster. I take a left turn when I look back and notice there's no one behind me. That way who ever is following me won't know what route I took since a came at a junction.
After I am sure no one's following me, I make my way to where I vaguely remember running from. Not having a phone makes everything worse. I could have googled where Jeff's house is or just found my way to Larry's right from the Miller's where I actually have to be. I figured he is the person with the answers to my questions.
A group of boys come passing by. This is my chance.
"Excuse me?" I capture the attention of the tallest boy among the four. He stops and nudges his friend. They both look at me like I am crazy. Well I am, but they don't know that.
"Looking for me princess?" The one with blonde hair says capturing the attention of the whole group. Hahaha this guy's crazy. He is good looking, I mean all of them are and they know it but they are not my type.
"If you were my type, yes, I would be looking for you but I don't have anything to do with boys." I say and smirk as all the blood rushes to his face out of embarrassment. His friends laugh along while he gets mad. I don't want to ruin things so I go stand in front of the tallest boy since he seems the most sensible out of the four.
"Do you happen to know where Jeff Orlando's house is?" I ask as he looks down on me. This is a problem I have to face everyday. I am short and to make matters worse, I took so young for my age. Most people think I am a teenager when actually I passed that two years ago. They treat me like am not a fucking twenty year old.
"And why do you think I would know?" He smirks at me and all the proper thoughts I had of him vanish in to thin air. Jerk.
"Boy, look, I come in peace. I only want to know where Jeff's house is. I don't want to play this game with either of you." I say and the one with black long hair makes his way towards me trying to put his hand on my shoulder. I let him for the time being until the next words leave his mouth.
"I could show you the house only if you agree to my terms." The other two laugh it off and the guy smirks next to me. The one I spoke to just stands there looking uninterested. I flip him over with the hand that was on my shoulder and he falls flat on his back wincing when he collides with the floor. Take that jerk.
"You boys should be at school instead of roaming the streets this early in the morning." I walk closer to the tallest guy while the other two rush to help their friend of the ground.
"Look kid, I thought you were the wisest among them and that's why I approached you. Now if you guys don't want to end up like him or much worse, you will tell me what I want to know." I point to the guy still struggling to get on his feet. The boys at this moment look terrified, even the tallest of them.
"You... you should go straight ahead and take a left turn and about two blocks down, take a right turn and the house with a black, golden gate is Jeff's house." He says and I pat his chest and mumble a thank you before I leave.
