Dinner or lunch or whatever. Is the worst part of a party you practically didn't have a choice but to attend. Much more if you are in my shoes.

"Why aren't you eating dear? Don't you like the food? We can always..."

"No, no Ma'am Alicia. No need." Every single damn eye is on me. Why won't the ground just swallow me whole.

It's only now i realise everyone was busy eating and chatting away while i was in my own little planet. I play around with the steak in my plate. I don't like steak and i don't have much of an appetite although i haven't really eaten ever since i came back from the hospital.

"Well..." clears throat. A thing he does when he's nervous I've realised.

"Camaya recently got discharged from the hospital so she doesn't have much of an appetite." And he saves the day yet again. Everyone nods in understanding and pretty much go back to whatever they were doing before.

"Don't embarrass me here Camaya. Eat. Your. Food." Jeff whispers sternly and gives me a 'you better eat your food before i do something you will regret' look. I gulp and turn to see if anyone saw what just transpired between us and thankfully but painfully, no one has. I pick on the steak hesitantly and begin eating.

My eyes wander around again until they fall on a familiar black orbs, Rita. Relax. She mouths and i smile.

Relax. Relax. Nothing will happen as long as everyone's around.

Lunch is soon finished and caramel apple pie is served for dessert. Not my favourite. As soon as the waitresses and waiters are done serving, a clicking sound resonates around the table.

"I would like to congratulate my son for every success and mind you, every failure he has achieved." Laughter is heard here and there at the last words. Foolish people. I mentally roll my eyes.

"Most of all i would like to congratulate him for taking this big step in life. For getting such a beautiful humble and gentle girl..." he points to me with his wine glass.

"To marry him. Being able to get such a girl is rare so we more than him are lucky for finding you Camaya. I wish the both of you nothing more than happiness and long life of prosperity."

     "Cheers to Jeff and Camaya."

     "Cheers."

      "Cheers."

"Cheers." And so many more cheers were said. I keep up with my charming smile but something settles in the pit of my stomach. It's been there since Jeff had warned me against embarrassing him. I've been trying to shake off that feeling but all in vain.

"I am more than lucky to have Camaya as my fiancee and much more a wife. I know she will make the best wife, daughter in law and most of all, mother." My heart stops. Literally stops.

"Cheers to my lovely wife to be." Jeff says. My heart picks up it's pace once again when Jeff pulls me up from my seat. Humanly gently.

"Cheers baby." He smiles and looks me dead in the eye. I snap back to reality and pick up my wine glass.

     "Cheers baby." Devil.

Turning towards the rest. "Cheers to the most..." and Jeff holds my waist tightly.

"Cheers to the most loving and caring fiance. I love you." I feel his grip loosen and i sigh in relief.

"I love you too." He kisses my lips so gently i swear if it was an entire different situation, i would've kissed him back. But yuck.
