My psycho side

Clark.

    "Hello,"

    "Hey handsome. Good morning." If it isn't Rita in all glory.

   "What do you want this early in the morning?" I ask in a raspy voice, clear indication that I just woke up.

   "You'll never change, will you? Anyway it's almost noon. So..."

   "Shit."

   "Yes shit. Get your ass to the office." And she hung up.

   I slept late and that messed up my sleep timetable. All thanks to Cass. I'll get her for this.

   I take a shower hurriedly and get dressed. Without bothering to eat anything, I drive to the office.

   Walking to the elevator, everyone's eyes are on me making me second guess my appearance. I don't get bothered by their looks and just walk my way to the elevator. When the doors shut, I stare at my reflection and I'm shocked.

    Never in the history of me working here have I ever looked like this. My hair is a total mess, sticking out in every direction. Fuck.

   I walk to my office very angry, completely ignoring Larrissa. I'll apologize later.

   "Took you long en..."

   "Fuck off Rita."

   "Someone's grumpy today." Cass says and I look at her with all the intimidation I can muster. That gets her to shut up and lower her head. I walk to my seat behind the table and take my seat.

   "Why are you guys in my office? And where's Nel?"

   "Rita was feeling down so she came here and Nel had to attend the meeting with the Japanese." Oh I forgot we had a meeting with the Japanese but thankfully Nel is handling it.

   I look to Rita and notice her rubbing her palms on her thighs. A nervous or panick action she does. I stand and walk to where she's seated and kneel infront of her, taking her hands in mine.

  "Calm down Rita. Tell me what happened."

  "Well uhh something happened and I had the power to... to stop it and I didn't. I didn't, I couldn't when I should've. I..."

   "Shhh, it's ok. Everything will be fine." I hug her and feel something warm running down my shoulder. She cries and I, not knowing what to do look at Cass. She just shrugs.

   I rub my hands up and down in a slow on her back and for a while we just stay like that. She withdraws from me and wipes her face. I stand on my feet and I feel a stinging pain in my knee joints from kneeling too long. For a short while I can't feel my legs and just stand here.

   Cass moves closer to Rita and reassures her with girl talk for a while.

  "I can order something for lunch."

   "Yes please. I'm famished."

   "You always are you glutton."

   "Nooo you did not just say that."

   "You bet I did." Cass and I bicker and with the back of my eye I notice Rita calm down a little.

   "Ok guys, I think I'll go home. Thank you two for making me feel better."

  "Anytime Rita." Cass says and hugs her.

  "Well we are only doing this so you don't end up slitting our throats."

  Rita playfully punches my upper arm and we share a laugh.

  "Well see you guys."

   "Take care." I say before she shuts the door. Cass starts laughing while pointing at my head.

  "I couldn't hold it any more." We start chasing each other around the office like five year olds. This is how we are. We play around like children and I would prefer it stays that way.
