Mysterious Girl

           Clark's POV  

     I head back to the office and Cass almost has my head.

              "Where the fuck have you been?" She shouts, her veins literally popping through her skull.

              "Calm down." I push through her and head for my seat but I hear Nel whisper something.

              "You shouldn't have said that." What did I say? Before I can completely remember what I just said, I feel a very sharp pain at the back of my head.

             " Damn it." I cuss aloud and turn to find out who dared to hit me and as I turn, I am almost hit again but thanks to my fast reflexes, I am able to dodge it.

            "What the heck is wrong with you Cass?" In her hand is a vase that was lying on the table in the  middle of my office. I can't believe this girl right now. She really hit me with a vase. A vase.

           "You leave us just in time for the meeting with the investors to get your damn files and stay there for over three hours and come back and tell me to calm down. Huh? Seriously?" Cass  shouts at the top of her voice. She's literally fuming.

          "I am sorry, Ok. I happened to witness Maya having a bad dream and I had to be there for her. She needed.."

          "What?" Cass asks

          "Whom?" Nel asks looking confused as hell. He looks as me then, at Cass, and back to me.

         "Wait, tell me what happened to Maya. Is she alright?" It's surprising how she shifts from furious to caring within seconds. If someone were to walk in right now and we told them that she was about to rip my head off, they wouldn't believe a word.

       "She's fine. She had a bad dream and didn't want to talk about it so I stayed back for a while to be of comfort to her and she asked if she could stay with us for a while and I agreed. I hope it's not a problem."

       "Of course. Of course it's not a problem. But why didn't you tell me earlier. I could have helped, you know? I really hope you left her in a good condition because God help me if..."

       "Will you relax Cassandra. You're getting on my nerves. I wouldn't have left Maya alone if I for one second thought she wouldn't be alright on her own. And as for not attending the meeting, I am sorry. I will talk to them personally about that." My head starts to hurt immensely and when I run my hand where I was hit, there's a  small bump.

       "Now look what you did Cassandra. Happy?" I look at her and she lowers her head in shame. Sometimes, she's sweet and all but when she gets angry, she becomes a whole different person. She becomes savage.

      "I..I didn't mean to...to hurt you bro. I am sorry."

      "Well the damage is already done. Get me some ice." She walks out the office with her head held down like a wounded animal. Well, she earned it. Nel takes a seat in front of the desk and starts his usual. Asking questions.

       "Well I was only gone for two days and a lot has happened. So, who's this Maya?" Very reluctantly I answer because he has his ways of getting things out of someone, one way or the other. Honestly, I think he should have become a cop or detective or a spy or something in that range.

       "She's Jeff's fiancee." That alone makes my head hurt twice as much. I hate to admit it but I feel jealous that she and Jeff are engaged. I tried to ignore the ring on her finger as we spoke earlier. I pretended that it didn't exist.

       "What the... You have Jeff's fiancee in your premises? Don't tell me.."

        "Come on Nelson, you know me better than that. I wouldn't kidnap her or use her to get to Jeff. You know how I deal with things don't you?" I can't actually believe my best friend would think I would kidnap someone just to get revenge. Well, I don't blame him. I am not a good person in any way but I wouldn't stoop so low and not especially with someone as stupid as Jeff. I have my way of getting to Jeff and I wouldn't need the help of anyone to do just what I have in mind for him.

      "I am sorry man. So, tell me, how did she end up in your place?"

       "We found her lying unconscious by the gate and took her in. She actually just woke up this morning before we got to the office. She had a fever last night so I called Adan and he helped with taking care of her. She still needs to go to the hospital to get her head checked because it looks like she got a bad hit to the head."  

       "Just like yours huh?"

       "Seriously Nel, is this the time to joke."

        "Lighten up dude. You look like you are carrying the whole world's weight on your shoulders." Cass walks in with the ice and a piece of cloth and puts it on the table  head still held down.

      "I am sorry. I lost my cool again. I won't do it again, I promise." She said that the last time she sliced my arm with a knife. This girl is murderous when she's mad. I tried taking her to a psychologist but she never goes for all her appointments giving one excuse after the other not to see one so eventually I let it go. She promised to see one the moment she seems comfortable with it. I really hope it's soon before she ends up killing someone or even killing me.

      "It's ok Cass. Go back to work. We have a lot to do." She goes back to her office and we get back to the topic Nel and I were on.

        "Something about Maya caught my attention. I need your help. Maybe you could ask Rita what really happened between her and Jeff."

        "Ok will do, but first tell me what caught your attention about this mysterious girl."
