Larry's POV (40 YEARS AGO)
"Remove the blindfolds." I hear a deep familiar voice. I have heard this voice many times while on my business meetings but I truly hope it's not the person I think it is.
A bulky man removes the blindfold around my eyes just as I open my eyes and see him walk to where a lady is tied up and removes her blindfold too. My heart drops to my stomach when I realize it's my wife, Immy.
"Ho...ney." She sobs and tries to free herself from the ropes.
"Let her go, please." I weep loudly not able to free myself. I look around until I spot a smug looking Lincoln. Lincoln Orlando. The last I had seen this man was during a meeting we had at his company two weeks ago and I rejected his business idea because I as a business man knew what he suggested wasn't worth risking millions for. He must have done this because of that. This is business after all. We all have our shady doings when it comes to this line of work.
"Let her go Lincoln. She has nothing to do with what happened two weeks ago."
"Ahhh so you do know this is about what happened? Well she has everything to do with it. The fact that she's married to you makes her so much a part of this."
"What this is all about is between you and me and not her, let her go and I will do anything you want me to do." I desperately plead.
"Really now Larry? You know there's a lot I would like you to do for me but the question is are you willing? No, in fact, you will be willing to do it because I will make you do it."
"Try me."
"You know why I chose you? This attitude of yours." He circles his gun directly at me. I was all too focused on now that I hadn't noticed he was holding a gun. Immy looks at me with widened eyes when she sees the guy and I try to calm her down with reassurance. She's pregnant with our first born child and I can't have her stressed right now. Her pregnancy is all ready risky at it is being the first one.
"So what is it you want me to do? Do business with your company? Agree to your stupid idea of a business deal that could make my company lose millions?" He hits my jaw with the back of the gun and damn does it hurt. I think he cracked my jaw.
"You know that my idea isn't as bad as you make it sound. You just wanted to humiliate me in front of everyone so you could steal the spot light. But you know what Larry, I will make you dance to my tunes now." He says that last part with a menacing laugh. I think he is trying to be intimidating but it makes him look more stupid than intimidating and for a while I consider laughing at him but the sight of Immy in front of me right now isn't as good. He stops laughing and points the gun at Immy and that's where the line he just said keeps playing in my head. "I will make you dance to my tunes." It is true that a man's weakness is his family and I totally understand that now.
"Now will do you as I say Larry?"
"No, I won't." Still with my wife right before the gun, my ego won't take this kind of humiliation. I think I hit a nerve this time. He pulls the trigger and my heart stops beating. I look to where Immy is and she's perfectly fine. What the hell was I thinking trying to object this sick man here. I could have lost my wife and child because of my ego.
