Lucy sighed as she sat down on the sofa in the library next to Peter, Susan and Edmund on the other. "Do we have any plans for today?" she wondered, looking at Peter. He thought for a moment.
"No, I don't think so." he answered.
Lucy's face lit up. "Can we spend the day at the river and have a picnic for lunch then?" she asked.
Peter glanced over at Susan and Edmund, seeing if that sounded like a good idea to them as well. They both gave him a nod. "Okay, we can do that." he replied. Lucy beamed and stood up from the couch.
"I'll go pack the food!" she said happily.
"I'll help you." Susan got up and followed Lucy out of the library. Peter stood up, followed by Edmund.
"A picnic by the river does sound fun." Edmund said. Peter nodded.
. . . . .
Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy walked through the woods towards the river, Susan holding the basket of food. Lucy turned her head when she heard wind blowing and saw a dryad floating by a tree beside her. She smiled and waved at the dryad, who then waved back.
"How about here?" Peter suggested, pointing at a spot close to the river and under a tree.
"Okay." Susan agreed.
Lucy nodded. "Here's good." she mumbled. Susan took out the blanket from the basket and lay it across the ground. They all sat down on it and opened up the basket.
Once Lucy had had a sandwich and an apple, she slowly stood and walked over to the river, her siblings joining her a moment or two later. A smirk slowly made its way onto Lucy's face as an idea came to her mind. Lucy quickly walked into the water and splashed Susan in the face, causing her to gasp and her siblings to laugh.
"Hey!" she exclaimed, but she was smiling. Susan dashed into the water and quickly splashed Lucy back. Then Edmund got in and splashed Peter. "Oh, you're gonna pay for that!" he laughed, splashing Edmund in the face. The four continued splashing each other for a few more minutes before deciding to get out and dry off.
"That was fun." Lucy grinned as she walked back to the blanket and sat down.
"Yeah, it was." Susan smiled, squeezing the water out of her hair.
"You should've seen the look on your face, Susan, when Lucy splashed you the first time." Peter chuckled.
"I wasn't expecting it!" she said.
Lucy giggled and then laid down on her back and stared up at the clouds in the sky. She smiled and closed her eyes, the breeze feeling wonderful.
