December 7th | Prompt: "Are you warm enough?"

Edmund grinned as he walked outside and watched his five year-old little sister hop down the stairs into the yard and jump onto the white, blanketed ground. She continued hopping around, giggling as her feet landed with a crunch in the snow. Lucy looked back at her brother with a smile, then up at the sky, sticking her tongue out to catch a snowflake.

Glancing at the ground, her face lit up with an idea. "What if we make a snow castle?"

"A snow castle? Okay."

Lucy dropped to her knees, soon joined by Edmund, and began scooping up a small pile of snow. Edmund made a small square block of snow, and carefully placed it on the mound Lucy made.

"It should have things on the side." Lucy commented, making a tall rectangular column.

"Yeah."

By the time they had finished, the snow castle was big and even detailed, and they were quite impressed with it. The cube of snow Edmund had put on the bottom had another cylinder added with a small indent as a window, and the columns he and Lucy had added to the sides also had little windows. The tops of the columns had tiny tigs with leaves attached stuck in them as flags.

"We did a good job, Lu." Edmund said surprised, and she smiled in reply.

"Edmund, Lucy! Time to come in now, you've been out here for a while, it's too cold!" their mum called from the front door.

"Aww, but we barely got to do anything." Lucy pouted.

"We can play more tomorrow." Edmund reassured her.

"Okay." The two went in, the warmth of the fire instantly greeting them. They took off their mittens, scarves, and coats, then went into the sitting room.

"Edmund? Will you read to me?" she asked as her brother plopped down on the sofa.

He sighed. "Sure, Lu."

She grinned, then ran off to her room and grabbed her favorite book, Thumbelina, and a soft, fuzzy blanket. She handed him the book, then curled up beside him, pulling the blanket over her and up to her chin.

"Are you warm enough?" Edmund asked. Lucy nodded happily, waiting. Edmund opened the book to the first page and began reading.

Wanted to write about my babies 🥰 I know this one is a little short too, but hey, it's longer than yesterday's 😂 And I know it's supposed to be Golden Age which is why it's italicized, meaning it's a memory, so I guess it technically works 😂 Hope you guys liked it! ❤️
