The sun shines through the glass wall, blinding me and waking me from my peaceful sleep.
Something in the bed moves and I smile, happy to wake up to Kingston finally being home early in the morning. I sit up, looking over to my left where Kingston sleeps and Roxy is there instead.
Instantly a frown overtakes my smile. Roxy barks happily, wagging her tail back and forth as she rolls around on Kingston's side of the bed because she knows he doesn't like it.
"Kingston?" I call out into the house, hoping that he kept his promise and stayed home.
Nothing. Just the sound of the birds perched on the railing of our balcony.
"Baby?" I call again, crawling out of bed. My heart drops when I receive no response again. He promised he would stay.
Tentatively I get out of bed, tossing my knotted hair up into a messy bun, slipping some warm socks on and make my way out of the bedroom.
The second I step out into the hallway the smell of breakfast hits my nose, the aroma so strong my stomach growls and my mouth waters.
Roxy barks, rushing past me with quick feet and wagging little nub.
I race after Roxy, going so fast down the stairs I almost slip. But manage to catch myself before I run into the kitchen, my heart squeezing at the sight.
Kingston's making breakfast in his loose sweats and white tank top that has rips tailing all the way down the side of his torso, the fabric still connected at the bottom by maybe 3 inches of fabric. His defined muscles flex and coil with his movements as he tosses an easy over egg up out of the pan. There's a waffle maker going, bacon sizzling away on the stove, eggs being cooked. And it smells fucking amazing.
Gentle rap music fills the room and Kingston bobs his head to the beat, randomly calling out random lyrics as quietly as he can. Rogue stands at his feet, his big dog eyes feasting on the pile of bacon sitting fresh and steaming on a plate.
The best way to wake up in the morning.
Silently I make my way over to him, giving Roxy the signal to sit still. She immediately sits and I come up behind Kingston, reaching out and wrapping my arms around his waist.
His muscles tense before I place a kiss in the middle of his back and he relaxes, letting out a long breath. "Morning mi amor," he rasps in his morning voice.
"You left bed." I complain, stepping up to his side and resting my head on his shoulder. He nods his head, circling his free hand around my waist, placing a quick kiss to my head before going back to the over easy egg "Yeah, I'm sorry love, but I wanted you to have breakfast ready by the time you got up,"
Another smile crests on my face "You know I could've made breakfast?" He grunts in acknowledgement, shaking the egg and carefully stepping away from me, sliding the egg out of the pan and onto a white glass plate.
He gently sets the frying pan down on a non-hot burner, turning to me "Yeah I know, but you always make food and I wanted to do something nice for you." He explains and I swear my heart melts again. My heart melts so many times with this man I should be dead. God I love him endlessly.
He must see the appreciation on my face because he smiles, walking up to me and pulling me into his hold, wrapping his arms around me and bending his head down, kissing my head softly "You needed more rest too," he murmurs against my skin "You were tired last night and I didn't want to wake you up just so you could've made me breakfast." The smile on my face deepens and his grows wider as well.
