I'm so proud of my son. 18 years of him just fooling around and then he met her. I still remember the day he came home complaining about how he couldn't stop thinking about her.
Me and Richard still remember the first time he smiled.
I didn't think Kingston would smile ever again, but then this beautiful brown haired girl with emerald green eyes walks into our house and the next day he's smiling and blushing.
"Everyone please gather around the dance floor for newly wedded dance!" An announcer calls over the loud speakers. I look over at my husband and he smiles at me, grabbing my hand and squeezing it softly.
"He did it darling," Richard whispers to me and kisses me softly. He doesn't understand how proud I feel as a mother. My middle child just got married to the love of his life.
I never thought I'd see the day.
But Amara was special, she is special.
She changed my son for the better.
I hope they start a family soon and become parents so they know what this feels like.
We make our way through the crowds, smiling at the girls with the guys before we come in front of the dance floor, stopping as a song slowly comes over the speakers.
It's Love Someone by Lukas Graham. Amara mentioned it to me when we hung out at their house together, but I paid no mind to it.
I can't believe he's marrying such an amazing woman. She is the sweetest girl I've ever met, and she loves Kingston unconditionally.
Richard wraps his arm around my waist and my hand finds it's way to his back, resting my head on his shoulder as I watch Kingston gently pull Amara into his arms, wrapping his arms around her waist and starting to sway to the beat with her.
They stare at each other like there is nothing else around them. So much love and warmth. They're in love.
The purest, most difficult love to find. And my son found it and held onto it tightly. Even before Amara did, but she slowly felt it.
I saw it in her gaze the more the started to come over. She's family. She's always been family to us, and now she's my daughter-in-law. I couldn't be more proud of my son.
Amara's arms wrap around Kingston's neck, her left hand drawing slowly up his neck and her hand cupping the back of his head, their foreheads resting together as they smile brightly at each other, whispering secrets to each other.
They move together, the diamond rings on Amara's finger glittering in the light from the crystal chandeliers lighting up the dance floor.
Kingston looks at her like she's the only girl in the world. The only thing that matters. His eyes sparkle when she's near, they alight with light I never knew he could have. He loves to have his hands on her and it makes me smile with exactly how much he loves her.
My son loves a beautiful girl.
And she loves him back just as much.
The lyrics play along as Amara and Kingston dance, swaying back and forth before he pushes her away from him, spinning her.
Her laugh echos through the room, her eyes sparkling, her smile wide as she spins back into Kingston's arms. Kingston laughs along with her and a smile spreads along me and Richard's face at the sound. He barely ever laughed before she came along, no smile, no light in his eyes, no true emotions.
But now he's got her.
My work as a mother is done, my son has learned everything he possibly can, and now he has the most perfect woman to look after him.
