After a few more moments I'm sent to voicemail, their voice making me sigh. I see Jean texted back saying she'd be there right away. I put away my groceries and head over there. I see she's standing in the middle of the park, wearing something nice. She's extremely nervous looking however. I look towards the band members just arriving, is Venti coming? "Jean." She turns to look at me. Her face starts turning pink. "I got this for Klee." Her face brightens up in surprise.

"Oh.. you didn't have to." I try to put on a smile for her, things don't have to be too awkward. "Is that all you needed to say to me?" She asks, a hint of disappointment in her voice.

"No, I also need to tell you that I will no longer be associating with you." Her eyes widened, before becoming glassy. "I'm not sorry to say that my relationship with (Y/N) is more important than you. Have a good day." I turn and watch Venti high five his friends. I can't help but roll my eyes. I see (Y/N)'s car leave, they were here? To drop off Venti? Of course they're purposely ignoring my calls.

After another hour of doing paperwork I call (Y/N) again. They decline quickly. "Fuck." I say breathy, laying my head back. Just pick up (Y/N), please. Is it over for us? Is that what this is trying to tell me? I can feel a pang of anxiety hitting my chest. (Y/N) needs to learn how to talk to me. I decide to head home for the day, no paperwork is gonna get done with me so bothered. I look at the vase (Y/N) put back together. I didn't expect that from them, the night I came back home they were sleeping. I've mentally exhausted them, and maybe they don't even want an apology. They just want me to admit I was in the wrong. I grab the vase and throw it into the trash. I decide to start cleaning up a little more, trying to get my thoughts straight. When I apologize, what should I say? How should I start? Saying that I was wrong? I sweep all over the house, organizing my thoughts, practically bullet pointing them. After a long while of cleaning my whole house I decide to call Charles. "Hello?" He greets me from the other line. "I'll be taking a month long vacation, as soon as possible. When do you think you could handle it?" He sounds surprised and starts to stutter.

"We..well! It's not unsurprising for you to leave on business trips for weeks at a time, but as a vacation!? I'll be fine, but even so.." He sounds worried about me, which I've told him time and time not to do. I sigh.

"I'm fine, it's effective starting tomorrow then. I think this vacation has been long coming and well deserved." We bid each other farewell, now I need to talk to (Y/N). Whether its them wanting to end things, or if it's us mending this. I call and it's almost instant that they pick up. "(Y/N), we need to talk, don't ignore my calls anymore." I huff, somewhat relieved however.

"I know.. I know it's over Diluc, I haven't seen you look so happy," Happy? "in so long. You know, I know, that whatever we were doing wasn't working. There was no need to call me over this, goodbye." My heart drops as I hear the call end. It's over? I can't believe what I've heard, my grip around my phone tightening. Happy? When was the last time they saw me? At the park with Jean? I tried to smile at her, I'm not sure if it came across well however. Then maybe at the grocery store? It is almost Jean's birthday.. did they think the present was for Jean? Or before that in the car? I was smiling about them, it's hard to know, but I know it's not what they think. I need to think this all through again, before I do something rash.

Once morning comes I feel more tired than when I went to sleep. I need my morning fix of bitter coffee. I look through my cabinets to find that I've used up all my coffee, and something I forgot to buy yesterday. I run my hand through my hair overly annoyed. There's a good cafe around here with a drive thru. I'll get my morning fix and try to come up with some way to talk to them. I desperately need to talk to (Y/N) about us. I call (Y/N) some time later, and as it's on its last ring they pick up. However, my voice gets stuck in my throat."..." They stay silent on the other side for a moment, and just as I'm about to speak, they do. "I don't want to talk to you anymore Diluc, please stop making this hard. I'll be silencing my phone now, goodbye." Their voice was shaky, and it sounded like they were about to cry. They're not over me, I might still have a chance of saving this.

I go across town, so I don't have to talk to Jean, and buy (Y/N)'s favorite flowers and sweets. By the time I've come back to my side of town it's nightfall. I hurry over to Amber's, where I hope they are at the moment. If not I'll search all over to find them. I won't let this chance slip away, I can't. I ring the doorbell, soaked in rain water. I see them peer through the slightly opened door. They shut it upon seeing it's me however. "(Y/N)," my voice is firm, "please listen to me for a moment." Please listen.
