"I need a new gown!" Amelia ordered "She had an accident!"

"What happened?" Bailey frowned as she ran into the room

"She had a seizure and I need to find out why" Amelia quickly said and did a neuro check

"I thought her seizures were under control after her previous surgery" Bailey frowned and changed Meredith into the new gown

"I thought so too. Okay I want scans of her brain and spine!" Amelia ordered

Amelia and Bailey had been working on Meredith for a while and Alex finally had calmed Ellis down. He had paged Derek to inform him about what happened

"Hey, Karev! You paged me?" Derek frowned why he'd be sitting in the hallway with his daughter asleep in his arms and Poppy at his feet

"Derek, sit down" Alex sighed

"Alex, what's going on?" Derek worried

"Mommy?" They heard Ellis waking up and she immediately started crying

"Hey princess, daddy's here" Derek lifted her in his arms as she cried

"Mer got a seizure. They took her for scans" Alex sadly said

"What?" Concern was noticeable on his face

"She'll be okay" Alex nodded sternly

"I want mommy" Ellis whimpered

"Derek, Alex? Can I talk to you?" Amelia walked towards them

"Daddy!" Ellis clutched onto her dad

"Ellie, why don't you go get some food with Bailey?" Derek suggested

"But daddy, I wanna see mommy!" Ellis cried

"Here honey, come with me for a minute" Bailey lifted the girl in her arms

"What's going on? I wanna stay with Ellis" Derek said as he watched Bailey and his daughter going to the vending machine

"We can't find out why she's having these seizures. We hope it's because of the medication she got like she got her seizures 3 years ago"

"So- This- This might be forever?" Alex frowned, holding onto Poppy

"I can't tell yet. I'm sorry" Amelia's voice cracked "She's asleep now"

"I'm gonna sit with her" Alex quickly said

"I'll come" Derek quickly replied

"Derek, I can take Ellis if you want?" Alex suggested

"Why?" Derek frowned

"I don't know if you wanna sit here all day with Mer?" Alex asked

"Of course, she's my wi- ex-wife, the mother of my child!" Derek quickly said

"She'll need her people, Derek. She needed you when she was pregnant, when she gave birth, when her disease started developing.." Alex sighed

"I was an ass for walking away but I didn't know she was pregnant" Derek buried his head in his hands

"And that's what she meant. She didn't want you to come back because of a baby but because you'd love her and then you kissed that woman!" Alex snapped

"I know, I made the wrong choice!" Derek snapped

"So will you be around or not because I won't let you break her another time!" Alex asked

"I'm here. I'm here for her, for our family" Derek nodded

"You wanna take sleepless nights because she's crying in pain? Because her body cramps up completely? You wanna deal with helping her out during the day and night?" Alex asked him sternly

"I-Is it that bad?" Derek's eyes got wet

"Sometimes" Alex softly nodded "So I won't let you in if you already know you can't deal with it"

"I can, Alex. I love Meredith. I love her so much it hurts if I see her and I can't sneak my arm around her waist or if I have to drive home again, which isn't home because home is where Mer and Ellie are" Derek's voice cracked

"If you hurt her again you'll be a very very dead man!" Alex intimidated Derek

"I won't hurt her" Derek sighed

"Then let's get Ellis" Alex said and took off to Bailey, took the girl in his arms and walked towards Meredith's room, Poppy following him closely

Poppy's tail started wiggling as she spotted Meredith on the bed

"Poppy, calm down" Alex rubbed her back while Ellis was eating her waffle as he held her

"Uncle Alex?" She quietly asked

"What's wrong munchkin?"

"When's mommy gonna be 'wake?" She asked as she was exhausted from crying

"Soon" Derek told her "Do you wanna sit with me?"

"Yeah" Ellis nodded

A bit later Meredith slowly opened her eyes

"Hey, you're awake" Alex breathed

"My head- It hurts" She groaned and closed her eyes

"Mommy, hi" Ellis smiled

"Hi princess" Meredith opened her eyes to look at her girl and closed them again

"You should sleep a bit more" Alex kissed her forehead and sighed once she was asleep "Dammit" He muttered
