A few days had passed and Meredith was finally able to get around by herself which didn't mean her fibro wasn't causing her any pain
As she was using the restroom she felt her body protesting against everything
"Mommy, are you ready?" She heard Ellis ask
"I'll be there in a bit" Meredith replied and closed her eyes while taking a deep breath
She grabbed Poppy's leash and the dog pulled her on her feet. She washed her hands and walked out of the bathroom into the living room
"Come on, we're going outside" Ellis jumped up and down
"Patience, Ellis" Addison laughed
Addison's laugh quickly turned into a frown as she saw how Meredith was dragging her left leg behind her until she reached the outdoor couch where she could finally lay down
"Poppy, play" Meredith unclipped the leash so the dog knew she could start playing. Poppy and Ellis ran off together, Ellis' laughter was loud which made Meredith smile
"She's too cute" Addison smiled
"She is," Meredith nodded her head. "How's everything going with you and Mark?"
"We're doing very well" Addison smiled "Actually-" Addison started
"What?" Meredith turned her head towards Addison
"We're gonna return to Seattle in a few months" Addison smiled
"That's really nice" Meredith smiled
Meredith looked at her daughter who was running after her dog. Despite how happy this view made her, it also gave her a less positive feeling. Her other daughter should have been here and Poppy shouldn't be a service dog
Flashback
Meredith once again was doubting if she'd call out for Alex or not. Recently he'd moved back in to help her out if she needed to but mainly because both of them didn't wanna be alone
She could hear Alex walking around in the kitchen but she felt ashamed for having to ask so she closed her eyes for a bit longer. She was supposed to get her service dog soon, she was waiting for the call to tell her she could come and start bonding with the dog
"Mer?" She heard Alex' voice after a bit
"Yeah?" She groaned as she grabbed the remote of the bed to help her sit up a bit more
"Hey, are you okay?" Alex frowned and took a seat on the bed "You haven't been up yet"
"Can you help?" Meredith quietly asked
"Of course" He stood up and helped her up "You should get dressed"
"Alex, I don't have work today and Derek has Ellis-" Meredith protested
"They called. We can go get you your service dog. Poppy's ready to come home today" Alex smiled
End of flashback
"Ellis, careful!" Meredith laughed as her daughter almost tripped
"I hope our kids will be playing together in a few years" Addison smiled
"I'm sure they will" Meredith smiled and saw Poppy came running towards her "Hi Pops" She brushed her hand over the dog's head
"Mommy!" Ellis ran towards her mother as well
"Hey monkey! Maybe we should get inside and pack your bag. Daddy will be here in a few hours to pick you up tonight"
"No mama! I don't wanna leave you! Daddy has to sleep here!" Ellis pouted
