"Okay Meredith. Can you sit up for me?" Amelia asked and Meredith did so "Slide your legs over the bed but slowly" Amelia warned

They had been practicing this a lot the past few days. Meredith didn't have any more seizures so far and Amelia really hoped it would be a one time thing

"Hey sweetie, how are you doing?" Bailey asked as she walked in

"It's okay" Meredith breathed as she hung her legs over the edge of the bed

"Now stand up" Amelia instructed, a walker close by in case Meredith had a hard time with only Amelia to stabilize her

"You're doing it" Bailey smiled

Meredith softly nodded before a smile appeared on her face. She shuffled a bit with her feet before she had to grab Amelia's arm

"Now go back to bed. You did amazing" Amelia smiled and helped her back

"How did that feel?" Bailey asked

"Painful" Meredith breathed "But a good painful" She nodded her head

"I'll let Alex know he can bring you home" Amelia smiled

"Thanks Amy" Meredith smiled

"No worries" Amelia pulled Meredith in for a hug "Mom called and asked how you were doing"

"Oh- I should call her" Meredith nodded her head

"She's just concerned about you" Amelia forced a small smile

...

"Will that work out for you?" Alex asked as he pulled Meredith onto her feet

"Yeah. I'm okay" She nodded and slowly shuffled towards the house, Alex holding onto her while Poppy made sure Meredith was okay

"Okay we're almost there, you are doing amazing" He smiled

"Come on Pops, let's get inside" Meredith smiled

Alex helped her lay down in her bed, stuffing a few pillows behind her back and covering her with several warm blankets

"And Poppy will lay down next to you as always" He smiled

"My nr 1 fan" Meredith chuckled but winced after

"No laughing?" Alex smirked

"No laughing" Meredith confirmed

"Sleep, maybe later on we can call Ellis" Alex tucked her in and left her room, not entirely closing the door so he'd be able to hear if something was up

After a few hours Alex heard Meredith call out for him

"Hi Mer" He walked in

"Hi" Meredith smiled "Can you help me up? I wanna let Poppy out"

"Of course" Alex smiled and helped her sit up. She adjusted the bed so she could easily get up. Poppy offered her help so Meredith reached for the least and let her pull her onto her feet

"You're the best, Pops" Meredith smiled

"Well thanks a lot" Alex smirked

"I wouldn't have known what to do without you" Meredith breathed heavily as walking took its toll on her body

"Come on, let's sit here" Alex led her towards the chairs

"Thanks" She nodded "Come on Pops, time to play" Meredith smiled and unhooked the leash

After Poppy had the chance to lose all the energy she had for the day she returned to Meredith and Alex and Poppy helped her back up

"Couch is fine" She groaned as she shuffled inside

"You need a bed to rest in, not a couch" Alex said sternly and walked her back to her room

"I'm going insane over there!" Meredith insisted

"Meredith, stop. Derek's bringing Ellis over in a bit" Alex helped her in the bed "How are you feeling?"

"Tired" Meredith whispered

"I'm in the living room if you need me" Alex smiled and covered her

"Thanks" Meredith fell asleep

...

"Uncle Alex, can I wake up mommy?" Ellis smiled as she walked into the house

"Of course sweetie. Let's go together" Alex grabbed her hand while Derek followed them. She suickly said hello to Poppy"Now be quiet so we can quietly wake up mommy with soft kisses" Alex said and lifted Ellis onto the bed

"Mommy" Ellis quietly giggled and placed kisses on Meredith's cheek

"Ellie?" She woke up, she could barely move as pain overtook her body

"Hi mommy" Ellis giggled and sat up straight, bumping slightly in Meredith's side causing her to wince in pain

"I'll go grab you some pain meds really quick" Alex quickly said and left the room

"Mommy, can I stay the night with you?" Ellis quietly asked

"Derek, can she?" Meredith looked at her ex husband who was rubbing Poppy's head

"Meredith, you're a few days post op, you shouldn't have to worry about Ellis" Derek sighed

"Alex is here as well" Meredith quietly said, not looking at Derek as she felt like she was a bad mother for not being able to take care of her own daughter

"It's not that, Mer. I could stay here as well- It's just- I'm concerned you won't rest" Derek sighed

"I'm a mother, Derek" Meredith sighed

"I know that, Mer! I don't wanna see you suffer!" Derek raised his voice, causing Ellis to get scared

Ellis buried her head in Meredith's arms and started whimpering

"Shh, Ellie Bell, daddy didn't mean to" Meredith forced her arm to move and softly rubbed Ellis' back. She noticed Poppy had stood up to protect her and her daughter

"Poppy, down!" Meredith sternly said

"I'm sorry, sweetie. I really didn't mean to yell" Derek tried

"Wanna stay with mommy!" Ellis whimpered "Wanna help mommy"

"But uncle Alex' here, sweetie. He'll take care of mommy" Deren tried

"No!" Ellis screamed

"Honey-" Derek tried again

"I can help out" Alex walked inside "Mer, take your meds first"

Alex adjusted the bed and guided the bed into a sitting position, he then helped her take the pills and handed her an already opened bottle of water

"Thanks" Meredith nodded, Ellis then cuddled closer into Meredith's arms

"Why don't you both take a nap. Uncle Alex and I will see if you can stay the night, otherwise I can maybe help out" Derek rubbed Ellis' back

Ellis nodded her head and the tears finally stopped. Meredith closed her eyes as a soft smile was on her face, glad to have her daughter with her despite the circumstances
