"Okay Shepherd, can you take out the mets in her brain?" Bailey asked
"I'm almost done. How are her kidneys?" He asked
"Looking good. Grey, do you think we're succeeding?"
"Everything is looking very good so far" Meredith nodded. She sat down on one of those desk chairs and was double checking the scans
"This woman will make a full recovery, great job, Grey" Bailey smiled from underneath her mask
"I'm glad. I guess you don't need me here anymore" Meredith pushed herself on her feet and walked out of the OR towards the scrubroom
Derek glanced at her a few times as she scrubbed out and eventually left the room
"How has she been doing?" Bailey asked him
"Oh- Bailey, I- She's been okay-ish" He felt caught

Meredith, Ellis and Poppy were walking through the hallways at a slow pace. She had decided to go check on her daughter so they could spend their break together so now they walked towards an on call room
"Mommy, can I stay with you the whole afternoon?" Ellis asked her
"Why? I thought you liked daycare?" Meredith frowned and opened the door to let the little girl in
"Don't wanna go" She muttered
"I'll ask daddy if that's okay with him. He's taking you home tonight" Meredith informed
"Okay" Ellis nodded and took a seat on the bed
Meredith took a seat next to her daughter and decided to lay down, her body was begging for a nap
"Come on, El. Close your eyes. Poppy and I are gonna take a small nap as well" Meredith kissed Ellis' head
"Mommy?" Ellis whispered
"What's wrong lovebug?" Meredith opened her eyes again
"I love you" Ellis whispered and cuddled into her mother's arms
"I love you too, Ellie. Daddy loves you, uncle Alex loves you, we all love you" Meredith whispered and held her daughter close, knowing her daughter needed this conformation from time to time "Love you so so so much"
...
"Meredith?" Derek opened the door of the on call room
"Oh- Hi" Meredith opened her eyes "What time is it?" She frowned and had difficulties lifting her arm to see on her watch what time it was "Shit. It's already 4" She pushed herself into a seating position but winced a bit
"Are you okay?" Derek asked concerned
"Of course. Pops, wake up" She rubbed her dog's fur
"Relax, take it easy" Derek chuckled "Do you have her bag?"
"Yeah it's in my office" She nodded and woke up the little girl "Ellie, wake up sweetie"
"Mama?" She muttered
"Look who's here, honey" Meredith smiled
"Daddy!" Ellis jumped up and into his arms
"Pop, push me up" Meredith ordered and then led the way towards her office where Ellis' bag was waiting for them
"Mommy and I napped all afternoon" Ellis giggled as Derek carried her in his arms
"Oh did you? And did you enjoy your nap?" He asked with a smile
"Yes! Mommy and I always snuggle" Ellis giggled
"And did mommy enjoy napping?" Derek asked Meredith
"Ellis is the best heater" Meredith nodded and made her way over to her office
Derek noticed how Meredith was dragging her body along, she even let Poppy help her to open her office door, grabbing Ellis' bag, handing it over to Derek and immediately taking a seat afterwards
"Bye Poppy. Take care of mommy" Ellis giggled and hugged the dog "Bye mommy! I'm gonna miss you" She hugged Meredith tightly
"Bye honey, I'll miss you too. Be good for daddy" Meredith kissed Ellis' forehead
"Of course! I'm gonna call you lots and lots" Ellis jumped up and grabbed her father's hand "We going?" She giggled
"Of course, honey. Mer, do you need a ride home?" Derek asked
"Would you mind?" Meredith asked "I just need to grab my stuff-"
"Take your time, we have no plans, right munchkin?" Derek spoke up
"Nope!" Ellis smiled
Derek placed Ellis on the ground and carried Ellis and Meredith's bags
"You don't need to-" Meredith tried to stop him but he insisted

Meredith had been home for a bit now and was laying down in bed while Poppy was running around the house. She hated being alone but she was thankful that she had some time for herself to just lay in bed and not having to do a thing
But her stomach had been bugging her so she had grabbed a bucket with her as she went to bed
Her phone ringed late at night and she was debating if she'd pick up or not until she saw it was Derek calling
"Hi" She put the phone on speaker so she wouldn't have to hold it
"Mommy!" Ellis giggled
"Hi Mer, this little one wanted to call you, is that okay?" Derek asked
"Yeah" Meredith replied
"Mommy, daddy and I ate meatloaf!" Ellis told her
"Oh, did you? Was it good?" Meredith asked
"Yes mommy!" Ellis giggled
Flashback
It was the first time Ellis would go to her dad for the whole weekend. She was barely a few months old
"Hey" Derek walked inside
"Hi" Meredith whispered
"How has she been?" Derek asked and walked towards her "She's wearing a very beautiful onesie" Derek smiled widely
"It's the one your mom gave me" Meredith smiled softly "Derek, I- Will you please call me if something's up?" She quietly asked, clearly tensed as this was a big thing
"Of course, Mer. We can facetime before she's going to bed" He smiled as he lifted the small baby in his arms
"Yeah, please" She softly smiled
"Okay. Leaving now, I promise we'll be fine" He smiled and placed baby Ellis in her car seat and carried her towards his car
"Bye bye, baby. Mommy loves you" Meredith placed a soft kiss on Ellis' tiny head
